Odisha Police SPO Recruitment 2026: Overview
Odisha Police, through the Office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Northern Range, Sambalpur, is recruiting Special Police Officers (SPOs) for contractual re-employment. This drive brings retired police personnel back into field service across districts covered by the range. It is a return-to-service opportunity for former officers, with the engagement governed by a separate contract.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Contract agreement: If selected, you must sign an agreement for re-employment. The notice limits the contractual engagement to no more than one year, so you should read the agreement as a time-bound appointment.
- District coverage: The advertised posts fall in Jharsuguda, Baragada, Balangir, Sambalpur and Subarnapur. The Northern Range office at Sambalpur handles this recruitment for those districts.
- Government accommodation: If you were allotted a quarter during your previous service, you must have vacated it. This is an explicit condition in the notice for retired personnel seeking re-employment.
- Uniform: Re-employed officers must wear the uniform and badge prescribed by the Director General and Inspector General of Police, Odisha. The appointment therefore carries the notice's stated uniform requirement for returning personnel.
- Medical Board decision: The Board's finding on fitness is binding. You can proceed further only if the Board finds you medically fit.
Application Submission Notes
Send your prescribed application to Office of the DIG of Police, Northern Range, Sambalpur. The office must receive it by the closing time; dispatching it before the deadline does not by itself meet the receipt requirement.
Incomplete or late applications will be rejected. The announced venue for the selection event is Reserve Police Ground, Sambalpur, with reporting at 6:30 AM. Keep the application receipt requirement separate from the later selection event when planning your visit.
