Odia University, Satyabadi, Puri (Odisha) has released Advertisement No. 01 of 2026/27 for recruitment of 21 teaching faculty positions in three departments — Linguistics and Natural Language Processing, Odia Language and Literature, and Regional, Tribal Language and Heritage Studies. The mode of teaching will be in Odia language. The recruitment follows UGC Regulations 2018 and the Odisha State Public Universities (Reservation in Teachers' Cadre) Act, 2026. Candidates with strong research background and Ph.D in concerned/allied disciplines can apply.

Who Can Apply?
Professor (Academic Level 14)
- Eligibility A: Ph.D in concerned/allied (Odia Subject)/relevant discipline + minimum 10 research publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed/Scopus/WoS/UGC-CARE journals + total research score of 120 as per UGC Regulations 2018, Appendix II Table 2
- Plus: Minimum 10 years of teaching/research experience as Assistant/Associate Professor/Professor with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates
- Or Eligibility B: An outstanding professional with a Ph.D in relevant discipline who has made significant contribution to the field with 10 years' experience
Associate Professor (Academic Level 13A)
- Good academic record with Ph.D in concerned/allied (Odia Subject)/relevant disciplines
- Master's Degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade)
- Minimum 8 years of teaching/research experience
- Minimum 7 publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed/Scopus/WoS/UGC-CARE journals + research score of 75
Assistant Professor (Academic Level 10)
- Eligibility A: Master's Degree with 55% marks (5% relaxation for SC/ST/SEBC/PwBD) in concerned/relevant/allied (Odia subject) discipline
- Plus: Cleared NET / SLET / SET conducted by UGC/CSIR, OR awarded a Ph.D in accordance with UGC (Minimum Standards) Regulations 2009/2016
- Eligibility B: Ph.D from a foreign university ranked in the top 500 of QS / THE / ARWU rankings
- Mode of teaching is in Odia language — candidates must be proficient
The Odia subject is treated as an allied discipline for Linguistics & NLP and Regional Tribal Language & Heritage Studies departments.

- Age of superannuation: 60 years (or as modified by the Government of Odisha, Higher Education Department from time to time)

Salary
- Professor (Academic Level 14): Pay Matrix Level 14 — entry pay Rs. 1,44,200 per month
- Associate Professor (Academic Level 13A): Pay Matrix Level 13A — entry pay Rs. 1,31,400 per month
- Assistant Professor (Academic Level 10): Pay Matrix Level 10 — entry pay Rs. 57,700 per month
- Plus DA and other allowances as sanctioned by the Government of Odisha from time to time
- Pay is governed by Odisha Revised Scales of Pay for University Teachers (UGC Scale of Pay) Rule, 2019
- New employees will be covered by the Defined Contribution Pension Scheme as per Odisha Civil Services (Pension) Amendment Rules, 2005

Selection Process (No Written Exam)
Selection is merit-based with the following stages:
- Screening of Applications: For Professor and Associate Professor, screening is done as per UGC Regulations 2018, Appendix II Table 2 based on academic/research score (research papers, books, publications, research projects, patents, awards, conference presentations, etc.)
- Shortlisting for Assistant Professor: Based on a 100-point academic score (Graduation 15, PG 25, M.Phil 7, Ph.D 30, NET-JRF 7/NET 5/SLET 3, Research Publications 10, Teaching/Post-Doc Experience 10, Awards 3). Minimum 75 marks required to be called for interview
- Interview / Selection: Subjects with more than two vacancies — 5 times the vacancies shortlisted. Subjects with one or two vacancies — 15 candidates shortlisted. Candidates must come prepared with a PPT covering biodata, subject domain strength, AI in pedagogy, vision for the University and Nation building.
- Final Merit: For Assistant Professor, selection is based only on interview performance. The University prepares a merit list equal to the number of advertised vacancies.

Responsibilities
- Teach assigned papers in the concerned discipline at UG, PG and research levels in Odia language
- Prepare lesson plans, lecture notes, study material and assignments aligned with UGC curriculum
- Guide M.Phil and Ph.D scholars in research and supervise dissertations and theses
- Conduct independent research and publish papers in peer-reviewed and UGC-listed journals
- Participate in academic committees, examination duties and administrative responsibilities
- Organise and attend conferences, seminars and faculty development programmes
- Develop e-content, MOOCs and innovative pedagogy supporting Vikasit Bharat and Atmanirbhar Bharat goals
- Mentor students for academic projects, employability and Odisha cultural studies
