NWDA is hiring 2 senior officers on deputation basis (including short-term contract) — 1 Chief Engineer (Level-II) at Bhopal and 1 Director (MDU) at New Delhi. The National Water Development Agency (NWDA), under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, has released a vacancy circular for filling 2 senior posts on deputation basis. This is a deputation-only recruitment — fresh graduates and private sector candidates are not eligible. Who Can Apply?

For Chief Engineer (Level-II):

  • You must be a Group A officer in Central/State Government, Union Territory, Semi Government PSU, statutory or autonomous body, engineering university, or R&D organisation.
  • You should be holding an analogous post on regular basis, OR have 2 years regular service in Pay Level-13 (Rs. 1,23,100-2,15,900).
  • You need a degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised university.
  • You must have experience in applied research in irrigation and water utilisation, OR experience in surveys, investigations, designs, preparation, construction, operation and maintenance of irrigation projects.

For Director (MDU):

  • You must be a Group A officer in Central/State Government, Union Territory, Semi Government PSU, statutory or autonomous body, engineering university, or R&D organisation.
  • You should be holding an analogous post on regular basis, OR have 5 years regular service in Pay Level-11 (Rs. 67,700-2,08,700).
  • You need a degree in Civil Engineering, OR a Master's degree in Maths, Computer Science, Physics, or Statistics with specialisation in Hydrology, OR a Post Graduate degree in Hydrology or Water Resources.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age for deputation: 56 years as on the closing date for receipt of applications.
  • Period of deputation (including short-term contract) shall not exceed 3 years.

Salary

  • Chief Engineer (Level-II): Pay Level-13A, Rs. 1,31,100 to Rs. 2,16,600 per month
  • Director (MDU): Pay Level-12, Rs. 78,800 to Rs. 2,09,200 per month
  • You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Central Government rules.

Selection Process

Selection is based on:

  1. Screening of applications based on eligibility — qualification, experience, and current grade level.
  2. Document verification and interview by the selection committee.
  3. Final selection by NWDA after concurrence from the parent department.

There is no written examination for this deputation recruitment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, design, and execution of inter-state and intra-state water resource link projects
  • Supervise irrigation project surveys, investigations, and feasibility studies
  • Manage construction, operation, and maintenance of irrigation works
  • Oversee NWDA website design, data uploads, and e-Governance modules (for Director MDU)
  • Conduct EIA and hydrological studies for inter/intra state link projects
  • Compute crop water requirement and assess irrigation needs in command areas
  • Handle multi-disciplinary and ground water studies for NWDA projects
  • Prepare technical reports, charts, and the Jal Vikas publication

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised university (or PG in Hydrology/Water Resources for Director MDU)

Preferred Qualification

Master's degree in Maths/Computer Science/Physics/Statistics with specialisation in Hydrology

Required Skills

Irrigation project planning, hydrology, water resources, surveys and investigations, e-Governance, EIA studies

18 - 56 years
