National Water Development Agency (NWDA) Director (MDU) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The National Water Development Agency (NWDA), under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, has released an advertisement to fill 1 post of Director (MDU) at its New Delhi headquarters on a deputation/promotion basis. The number of vacancies may vary depending on workload. This is a Group 'A' Non-Ministerial post, and the period of deputation (including Short Term Contract) will ordinarily not exceed 3 years. Officers from Central/State Government, Public Sector Undertakings, Union Territories, Semi-Government bodies, Statutory or Autonomous Organisations, Engineering Universities, and R&D Organisations can apply. NWDA is the central agency responsible for studies on inter-linking of rivers across India, so this role gives you a chance to work at the heart of the country's water resources planning at the national level.

Who Can Apply?

• Method of Recruitment: By Promotion or Deputation (including Short Term Contract).
• Eligibility: You should be holding an analogous post on a regular basis in your parent cadre/department, OR have 5 years of regular service in Level-11 (Rs. 67,700-2,08,700) of the Pay Matrix or equivalent in your parent cadre/department.
• Qualification: You must have a degree in Civil Engineering, OR a Master's degree in Maths/Computer Science/Physics/Statistics with specialization in Hydrology, OR a Post Graduate degree in Hydrology/Water Resources or equivalent from a recognized university.
• Departmental officers in the direct line of promotion are not eligible for deputation, and deputationists are not eligible for promotion to this post.
• Period of deputation, including any earlier ex-cadre deputation in the same or another Central Government organization immediately before this appointment, will ordinarily not exceed 3 years in total.

Age Limit

• The maximum age limit for appointment on deputation (including Short Term Contract) is 56 years as on the closing date for receipt of applications.

Salary

• Selected candidates will draw pay in Level-12 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (Rs. 78,800 to Rs. 2,09,200 per month).
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA, and other allowances as per Central Government rules.

Selection Process

2. Screening: NWDA verifies your eligibility, qualification, and experience against the vacancy circular.

As part of the role, you will be responsible for NWDA's Monitoring and Data Unit (MDU) work, so the Selection Committee will also look closely at your technical background in hydrology, GIS, and water resources data management while reviewing your Bio-Data.
