National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC), India's largest integrated power utility with an installed capacity of 89 GW, has released Advt. No. 05/26 for 250 Assistant Executive (Operation) posts on Fixed Term Employment. NTPC operates across power stations and subsidiaries across India — if selected, posting can be at any NTPC plant/subsidiary. The engagement is initially for 3 years, extendable for up to 2 more years based on performance. This is an excellent opportunity to work at a Maharatna PSU in India's power sector.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• You must have a B.E. / B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from a recognized University/Institution with a minimum of 40% marks.
• SC/ST/PwBD candidates need only 40% marks (same threshold for all categories).

Work Experience

• You must have minimum 1 year of post-qualification working experience in Operation/Maintenance of a power plant with an installed capacity of 40 MW or more.
• Experience must be after completing your B.E./B.Tech degree.

Other Requirements

• Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply.
• You must have secured the minimum 40% marks in Engineering from a recognised university. Candidates with CGPA/CPI/GPA marks should convert to percentage as per their university formula.
• Posting will be at any of NTPC's Stations/Projects/JV Subsidiaries across India. The job is transferable.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 35 years (as on the last date of online application — 07 May 2026)
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST — 5 years; OBC (NCL) — 3 years; PwBD — 10 years; Ex-Servicemen — as per Government of India guidelines.

Salary

• Fixed Monthly Consolidated Amount: Rs. 55,000 per month
• Additionally, you get HRA (or Company Accommodation where available), Night Shift Allowance (if posted on night duty), and medical facility for self, spouse, two children, and dependent parents.
• This is a Fixed Term Employment — no pension/PF/gratuity benefits applicable under regular employment rules.
• Tenure: 3 years, extendable for up to 2 more years based on performance and organisational requirements.

Selection Process

The selection for NTPC Assistant Executive (Operation) 2026 will be done in multiple stages:

1. Shortlisting / Screening: Initial screening based on qualification, percentage of marks, and years of experience may be done at NTPC's discretion.
2. Written Test / Computer-Based Test (CBT): Objective-type test covering technical knowledge and aptitude. Exam date will be announced separately.
3. Personal Interview: Candidates shortlisted from the written test will be called for an interview.
4. Document Verification: Final verification of original certificates and experience documents.

Note: NTPC management reserves the right to modify the selection process at any stage, including conducting multi-stage selection or combination of the above. The management may also restrict the number of candidates called for any stage.

• Handle day-to-day operation and supervision of equipment at power plant sites, including isolation/normalisation of systems
• Monitor safety procedures and ensure all safety systems are being followed during plant operations
• Work in shifts, including night shifts, as required by the plant's operational schedule
• Follow all applicable regulations, guidelines, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for plant operation
• Manage and respond to any breakdowns or abnormalities in plant equipment during your shift
• Prepare shift reports and maintain accurate operational logs and records
• Assist in planned maintenance activities and coordinate with maintenance teams
• Ensure compliance with environment and safety norms as per NTPC and statutory requirements
