NLU Meghalaya, based at the Mayurbhanj Complex in Nongthymmai, Shillong, has released a notification (Ref: NLUM/Rect/AL/115/2023/1334 dated 30 July 2026) for 1 Assistant Librarian post on a tenure basis of 3 years. As one of India's national law universities, NLU Meghalaya runs undergraduate and postgraduate legal education programmes, and its library is central to supporting the research and academic needs of students and faculty. This is a good opportunity if you have hands-on experience with digital library management, cataloguing, and knowledge management systems at a modern academic library. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: The notification states the qualification is as per UGC norms. • Managing acquisition, accessioning, cataloguing, classification, and circulation of library resources using standard library classification systems.
• Experience with stock verification and weeding of outdated or damaged library materials as part of routine library maintenance.

Salary

• The notification lists the pay scale as "As per UGC" without stating an exact figure. Assistant Librarian posts at universities are usually placed at Academic Level 10 of the UGC Pay Matrix (7th CPC), with pay ranging from around Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400 per month depending on your experience and increments.
• You will also get DA, HRA, and other allowances as applicable under university rules, in addition to your basic pay.
• Since this is a 3-year tenure post, your engagement terms and any renewal will be governed by the university's service rules at the time of appointment.

Selection Process

The university will select candidates through the following stages:
