NIT Meghalaya Project Associate-I Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

National Institute of Technology Meghalaya (NIT Meghalaya), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has invited applications for the position of Project Associate-I. This is a research project titled "Design and development of bio-mimetic propeller blades with PBCF technology for minimizing underwater radiated noise" funded by the Technology Innovation and Development Foundation, IIT Guwahati. The position is for approximately 7 months (up to October 2026). Selected candidates may also get the opportunity to convert to a regular Ph.D. programme at NIT Meghalaya.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: M.Tech/M.E. in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Fluid/Thermal Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks (or equivalent). Alternatively, B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 75% marks (or equivalent).
• Desirable Skills: Preference will be given to candidates with working experience relevant to the project. You should have knowledge of CAD Modelling, 3D Printing, and CFD Simulation.
• Nationality: Indian nationals only.

Age Limit

• You must not be over 28 years of age as on 20 March 2026.
• Age Relaxation: As per the norms and orders of the Government of India for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen).

Salary

• With GATE Score: Rs. 37,000 per month (consolidated) plus HRA / accommodation as per institute norms.
• Without GATE Score: Rs. 30,000 per month (consolidated) plus HRA / accommodation as per institute norms.

Selection Process

Selection will be done in 2 stages:

1. Shortlisting (Merit-Based): Candidates will be shortlisted based on their academic merit and relevance to the project. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
2. Interview (Online/Offline): Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.

Note: Just meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview call.
