NIT Durgapur JRF/SRF Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Department of Electrical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Durgapur (NIT Durgapur) has released a notification (Advt. No. NITD/SRCC/CK/EE/ANRF/2026-27/002, dated 24 July 2026) for 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) or Senior Research Fellow (SRF) position. The post is under an ANRF (Anusandhan National Research Foundation) sponsored project titled "Directional Ultra High Frequency Sensor for Partial-Discharge Monitoring in Gas-Insulated High-Voltage Systems," led by Principal Investigator Dr. Chiranjib Koley, Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering. The project runs under Sanction Order No. ANRF/ARG/2025/008456/ENS dated 25 March 2026, with the position advertised under Reference No. NITD/SRCC/CK/EE/2026-27/3. This is a purely contractual position for the duration of the project only — selected candidates will not get any regular appointment at the institute, and your performance will be evaluated every year. This role suits engineering graduates or postgraduates who want hands-on research experience in high-voltage systems and sensor technology.

  • Eligibility Route (as per DST norms): Your GATE score, or a qualification through a national-level eligibility test such as CSIR-UGC NET (including for Assistant Professorship), or a national-level exam conducted by a Central Government science agency such as DST, DBT, DAE, DRDO, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER or NISER, is used as the basis for JRF/SRF selection.
  • Preferred Research Experience: Experience in Partial Discharge Monitoring, Ultra High Frequency sensors, and High Voltage Test Techniques is desirable.
  • Preferred Skills: Programming in C#, .NET and Embedded C/C++; FPGA design using Verilog; and Analog/Digital electronics, microcontroller programming and PCB design.

Salary

  • If you are selected as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF), you will get Rs. 37,000 per month plus HRA as per institute norms.
