The National Informatics Centre (NIC), functioning under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, has announced a major recruitment drive for 153 Group A Gazetted positions of Scientist-C and Scientist-D. NIC is India's premier technology organization responsible for building and managing IT infrastructure for the government. This recruitment covers 141 Scientist-C posts (Pay Level 11) and 12 Scientist-D posts (Pay Level 12), both filled through direct recruitment. Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

You need one of the following degrees in specified technical fields:

• Bachelor's Degree: BE/BTech, DOEACC B-Level, AMIE, or Graduate of IETE
• Master's Degree: MSc, MCA, ME/MTech, or MPhil

Your degree must be in one or more of these fields: Computer Science, IT, Electronics, Communication, Software Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Remote Sensing, GIS, Bio-informatics, Cyber Law, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Materials Science, and several other related disciplines.

Experience Requirements (as on 21 November 2022)

• Scientist-C: You need at least 4 years of experience in research or development in industrial/academic institutions or science and technology organizations.
• Scientist-D: You need at least 8 years of experience in research or development in industrial/academic institutions or science and technology organizations.

Note: All eligibility conditions including qualification and experience must be fulfilled as on the crucial date of 21 November 2022.

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 18 years
• Maximum age: 40 years (as on 01 January 2026)
• Age Relaxation: Applicable as per Government of India rules for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen candidates.

Salary

• Scientist-C (Pay Level 11): Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 2,08,700 per month
• Scientist-D (Pay Level 12): Rs. 78,800 to Rs. 2,09,200 per month
• You will also receive Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), CPF, Gratuity, Social Security Schemes, and medical benefits as per Central Government rules.

• Design, develop, and maintain large-scale IT systems and e-governance applications for central and state government departments.
• Conduct research and development in emerging technology areas such as AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data analytics.
• Manage and support the national network infrastructure including NIC-NET spanning all districts across India.
• Provide technical consulting and IT solutions to government ministries, departments, and agencies at national and state levels.
• Develop and maintain databases, portals, and mobile applications for citizen-centric government services.
• Handle system administration, network security, and disaster recovery for critical government IT infrastructure.
• Prepare technical documentation, project reports, and presentations for government IT projects.
• Coordinate with external vendors, technology partners, and other government organizations for project implementation.
