Who Can Apply?

Section Officer (Level 7):

  • Qualification: Bachelor's degree from a recognised university
  • Experience: You must be holding an analogous post on regular basis, or have relevant administrative experience in government service

Assistant (Level 6):

  • Qualification: Graduate degree from a recognised university
  • Experience: You should be working in Level 5 or equivalent roles on regular basis

Stenographer Grade-I (Level 6):

Salary

  • Section Officer: Pay Level 7 — Rs 44,900 to Rs 1,42,400 per month

  • All posts carry a 20% Special Security Allowance in addition to regular pay

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written examination for these posts. Selection is purely on deputation basis:

  1. Scrutiny of Applications: NIA will review your bio-data proforma, service details, and qualifications against the eligibility criteria for each post
  2. APAR Evaluation: Your Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APARs) for the last 5 years (2020-21 to 2024-25) will be assessed for overall performance and suitability
  3. Vigilance Clearance: Your parent department must certify that no disciplinary or vigilance case is pending or contemplated against you
  4. Document Verification: All original documents and service records will be verified before final selection

Responsibilities

  • Handle administrative and secretarial duties within the assigned NIA branch or division

  • Manage file processing, record-keeping, and data entry in government systems
  • Assist senior officers in coordinating day-to-day office operations and inter-branch communication
  • Maintain confidential records and handle classified material with appropriate security protocols
  • Monitor incoming and outgoing mail, despatches, and official communications
  • Support investigation teams with clerical, stenographic, and administrative backup as required

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

12th Pass / Graduate (depending on post) with relevant government service experience

Preferred Qualification

Computer proficiency certification, Stenography skills (100 WPM) for Stenographer post
