The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, is inviting applications from retired government officers and private professionals for contract positions in its Standardization, Research & Development (SRD) Cell and Technology Induction (TI) Cell. These are specialised technical roles focused on highway materials research, new construction technologies, and IT-based solutions for highway projects. The initial contract period is two years, extendable by one more year based on performance.

Who Can Apply?

For Joint Advisor (Technical) – SRD Cell:

• Qualification: Graduation in Civil Engineering from a recognised University or Institute.
• Experience: You must have retired from Central/State Government, PSU, or a recognised Institute at a level equivalent to Executive Engineer or above but below Chief Engineer, with hands-on experience in research related to highway materials like Bitumen, Cement, Steel, new alternate construction materials, and new technologies.
• Desirable: Postgraduate degree in Transportation Engineering, Geotech Engineering, Highway Engineering, or Structural Engineering from a recognised university.

For Assistant Advisor (Technical) – TI Cell:

• Qualification: Graduation in Civil Engineering from a recognised University or Institute.
• Skills: Must be proficient in AutoCAD, IT Systems, and other new IT tools with appropriate matching qualifications.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in research-related work of Highway projects.
• Desirable: Postgraduate degree in Transportation Engineering, Geotech Engineering, Highway Engineering, or Structural Engineering from a recognised university.

Age Limit

• Joint Advisor (Technical): Not exceeding 65 years as on the last date of application (6 May 2026). This post is targeted at retired government officers.
• Assistant Advisor (Technical): Not exceeding 35 years as on the last date of application (6 May 2026). This post is open to private professionals with relevant experience.

Salary

• Joint Advisor (Technical): Monthly remuneration calculated as (Last Drawn Basic Pay – Pension + Transport Allowance) plus Domain Specialisation Charges, Telephone/Internet Charges, and Hospitality Charges. The total will not exceed Rs. 1,75,000 per month (as per NHAI EP/YP Guidelines dated 21.06.2017). Domain Specialisation Charges are capped at Rs. 80,000/month; Telephone Charges at Rs. 2,500/month; Hospitality Charges at Rs. 2,500/month.
• Assistant Advisor (Technical): Remuneration in the band of Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 75,000 per month (all inclusive), fixed as per NHAI EP/YP Guidelines dated 21.06.2017.

Selection Process

Selection will be based on evaluation of applications and may include:

1. Screening of Applications: NHAI will shortlist candidates based on eligibility, qualification, and experience.
2. Interview / Merit-based Selection: Shortlisted candidates will be assessed for domain expertise and suitability for the role.
