National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) is an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs and the world's first university dedicated fully to forensic and allied sciences. It was set up by the Government of India through an Act of Parliament in 2020 to meet the rising demand for forensic experts in India and abroad. Its Dharwad Campus has invited applications for 6 Assistant Professor (Contractual) posts across three departments — Forensic Science, Cyber Security/Computer Science, and Pharmacology. All 6 posts are for the position of Assistant Professor (Contractual). Recruitment follows the Reservation Policy of the Government of India.

Who Can Apply?

You need a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline along with a First Class (60% or more) Master's degree. The subject depends on the department you apply for.

Assistant Professor - Forensic Science (1 post)

• Ph.D. in the relevant discipline
• M.Sc. in Forensic Science or equivalent with specialization in Forensic Biology, General Forensics, Biotechnology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Toxicology, Analytical Chemistry, or Applied Chemistry

Assistant Professor - Computer Science / IT / Cyber Security (4 posts)

• Ph.D. in the relevant discipline
• M.E. / M.Tech. with specialization in Computer Science & Engineering, Cyber Security, Information Security, Network Technology, IT, Blockchain, Machine Learning & AI, or Data Science
• A certification in Ethical Hacking or Cyber Security is preferred

Assistant Professor - Pharmacology (1 post)

• Ph.D. in the relevant discipline
• Master's degree in Pharmacy / Forensic Pharmacy with specialization in Pharmacology
• Registration as a Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act is mandatory

If you do not have a Ph.D. but are pursuing one, or you have qualified the UGC/CSIR NET exam, you may still be considered at a lower pay level.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 45 years (as on the last date of application, 9 July 2026)
• Age relaxation applies as per the Reservation Policy of the Government of India

Salary

Your monthly pay depends on your qualification:

• Rs. 90,000 per month — Assistant Professor with a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline
• Rs. 75,000 per month — Assistant Professor with a First Class Master's degree and UGC/CSIR NET
• Rs. 68,000 per month — Lecturer level, for candidates with a First Class Master's degree

This is a consolidated monthly salary with no separate allowances.

Selection Process

Selection is based on a personal interview:

1. Screening of Applications: Only shortlisted candidates who meet the eligibility criteria are called further.
2. Screening Test (if needed): If many applications are received, a screening test may be held on the interview day or one day before.
3. Personal Interview: Held in offline mode only at the Dharwad Campus. Online interview requests are not allowed.
4. Medical Fitness: If selected, you must submit a medical fitness certificate.

The interview schedule will be shared on the NFSU website and by email to shortlisted candidates.

• Each post is a temporary contractual position for 11 months, which may be extended or curtailed based on your performance or until a regular candidate is recruited.
• The engagement does not give any right to claim a permanent appointment at the University.
• Your qualifications and experience will be counted as on the last date of application.
• If you are in service with any Government, Semi-Government, or PSU, you must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of the interview.
• The medium of instruction at NFSU is English, and all disputes fall under the jurisdiction of Dharwad city.
