NFSC Chief Instructor Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

National Fire Service College, Nagpur has released a vacancy circular for 1 Chief Instructor post in General Central Service, Group B, Gazetted, Non-Ministerial. The post is filled through deputation including short-term contract, and the selected officer will work at NFSC Nagpur under the Ministry of Home Affairs. This role is meant for officers who already have strong firefighting teaching or training experience and can take responsibility for classroom and practical fire-service instruction.

Service Eligibility

• Eligible organisations: Officers from Central Government, State Government, Union Territory Administration, autonomous bodies, statutory organisations, PSUs, universities, or recognised research institutions can apply through proper channel.
• Regular post route: You must be holding an analogous post on regular basis in your parent cadre or department.
• Level-6 route: You can also apply if you have 5 years regular service in Pay Level 6 or an equivalent grade.
• Departmental route: Departmental Senior Instructors in Pay Level 6 with 5 years regular service may also be considered.

Education and Fire Training

• Qualification: You need a Bachelor degree in Science from a recognised university or a diploma in any branch of Engineering from a recognised institution.
• Fire course: You must have passed the Sub-Officer Course from National Fire Service College, Nagpur.
• Experience: You need 5 years experience in teaching or training in firefighting in a rank not below Senior Instructor.
• Eligible experience organisations: Experience can be from recognised Fire Service organisations in Central Government, State Government, Union Territory Administration, Municipal Corporation, industrial, aviation, or port fire services.

Preferred Qualification

• First Aid or Rescue: Medical First Aid Responder or Urban Search and Rescue course from a recognised institute is desirable.
• Driving Licence: A valid Heavy Vehicle Driving Licence is desirable.

Deputation Conditions

• Tenure: The deputation period, including any earlier ex-cadre deputation just before this appointment, will ordinarily not exceed 3 years.
• Proper channel: Only applications sponsored by the parent ministry, department, State Government, UT Administration, PSU, or eligible organisation will be considered.
• No withdrawal: Officers who volunteer and are sponsored for this post will not be permitted to withdraw their names later.
• Promotion note: Departmental feeder-category officers in the direct promotion line are not eligible for deputation consideration, and deputationists are not eligible for promotion consideration.

Age Limit

• Maximum age for appointment by deputation should be not more than 56 years.
• The age will be counted as on the closing date of receipt of applications, which is 19 July 2026 based on the official publication date.

Salary

• The Chief Instructor post carries Pay Level 7 in the pay matrix.
• Monthly pay range is Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400.
• Pay of the selected officer will be fixed as per Government of India deputation instructions.
• You will also get applicable allowances as per Central Government rules.

Physical Standards

• Height: Not less than 165 cm. This is relaxable by 5 cm for hill area candidates.
• Chest: 81 cm normal with minimum expansion of 5 cm.
• Weight: Not less than 50 kg.
• Hearing and speech: Both should be normal.
