About This Job

NEHU Project Assistant Intern IKS Recruitment 2026: Overview

North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) is engaging a Project Assistant/Intern for its Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) Research Centre Project at Tura Campus, Chasingre, Meghalaya. The Department of Agribusiness Management and Food Technology hosts the project, with support from the IKS Division of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Community-based knowledge and field engagement are central to this assignment, which connects the project with traditional knowledge holders and indigenous food and agricultural practices. You would join on a temporary project contract that ends with the project.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Project-linked term: Your appointment is tied to the life of the IKS Research Centre Project. Continuation depends on satisfactory performance and the availability of project funds. The notice does not offer a separate guaranteed term beyond the project.
  • Regular appointment: The contract gives you no right to regularisation or absorption in NEHU or another establishment. You should assess this as a temporary research support assignment when considering your plans.
  • Employee benefits: The Project Intern will not receive the benefits and facilities available to the university’s regular employees. This condition forms part of the terms of engagement.
  • Field commitments: Your work may involve community interactions, field visits and outstation duties. The role therefore includes work away from the department as project activities require.
  • Conduct and performance: Misconduct or unsatisfactory performance can lead to termination under the project’s applicable terms. The continuation conditions apply throughout the engagement.
  • Interview travel: NEHU will not reimburse travel or daily expenses for attending the interview. Make your own arrangements for reaching the Tura Campus venue.
  • Decision-making: The Selection Committee’s decision is final. Trying to influence the recruitment through canvassing will disqualify you.
  • Possible changes: The university or Principal Investigator may amend, postpone or cancel the advertisement or recruitment process without giving a reason.
  • Other conditions: Matters not addressed in the notice follow the relevant IKS Research Centre Project and IKS Division guidelines. Your appointment remains subject to those project rules.
  • Accuracy of information: The application declaration requires complete and correct information. Incorrect details can result in cancellation of your application or later termination of the engagement.
