Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA) Senior Medical Officer Recruitment 2026 - 5 Posts
Mumbai Port Authority, under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (Sagarmala), has notified 5 vacant posts of Sr. Medical Officer (General Duty) in the pay scale of Rs. 50,000-1,60,000 (pre-revised Rs. 20,600-46,500 / 10,750-16,750). Selection is by absorption or deputation — only serving officers from Major Port Authorities are eligible to apply through proper channel. The recruitment is governed by the Recruitment Rules attached as Annexure I to the notification.
Who Can Apply?
Essential Qualification
- MBBS degree from a recognised University
- Five years of experience in a hospital, after completion of one-year internship
Desirable Qualification
- A post-graduate medical degree from a recognised university
- Knowledge of Marathi
Other Conditions
- You must be a serving officer of a Major Port Authority (this is a deputation/absorption recruitment — open market candidates are not eligible)
- You must be cleared from a vigilance and administrative angle
- No major or minor penalty should have been imposed during the last 10 years
- Your ACRs/APARs for the last 5 years (2020-21 to 2024-25) must be available
Age Limit
- The notification specifies a maximum age of 40 years in the recruitment rules table (column 7).
- For deputation, normal DoPT age conditions for deputation posts apply.
- Crucial date for eligibility (qualification, experience and age): 1 May 2026.

Selection Process
Selection is by absorption/deputation through the Services Selection Committee:
- Document Screening: Applications received through proper channel are screened against the eligibility criteria in the Recruitment Rules.
- Vigilance and Administrative Clearance: Your ACRs (2020-21 to 2024-25), vigilance clearance (Annexure IV) and integrity certificate (Annexure III) are reviewed.
- Services Selection Committee: Shortlisted candidates are considered by the Services Selection Committee.
- Final Order: Selected candidates are absorbed or deputed for a period of 3 years.
No written exam — selection is based on records, ACRs and Committee review.

Responsibilities
- Provide general medical care to port employees, dependants and pensioners
- Handle outpatient and inpatient duties at the port hospital / dispensary
- Conduct medical examinations of port staff, including pre-employment, periodic and fitness checks
- Attend medical emergencies arising within port premises and dock areas
- Maintain medical records, prescriptions and patient case sheets as per port medical rules
- Coordinate with public health authorities on disease surveillance and vaccination drives
- Assist in occupational health programmes and dockworker safety initiatives
- Work in shifts including night duty and emergency call-out as assigned

Post-graduate medical degree from a recognised university; Knowledge of Marathi
