About This Job

The Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) is hiring for 3 Group A & B posts on a permanent basis under Advertisement No. 02/2026. The roles cover Tourist Officer in the Tourism Department and Draftsman Grade-I in the Directorate of Housing. Selected candidates get a salary under Level 11 of the Revised Pay Structure. The Meghalaya Public Service Commission has invited online applications from citizens of India for filling up these technical and tourism-sector posts vetted by the respective line Departments. The Tourist Officer post is anywhere in the State or at TIC Kolkata / Delhi / Guwahati, and the recruitment is open for both KJ (Khasi-Jaintia) and Garo reservation rosters. Who Can Apply?

Tourist Officer (Post Code 01)

  • Essential: Graduate in any discipline from a recognized Institution / University.
  • Preference: Diploma in Tourism or Tourism-related subjects, OR a minimum of 2 years experience in the field of activity in a recognized establishment.

Draftsman Grade-I (Post Code 02)

  • Essential: Diploma in Architectural / Civil Draftsmanship from a recognized Institution.
  • OR 2 years Certificate holder in Civil Draftsman from I.T.I or any recognized institution with at least 3 years experience in the line.

Note: Educational qualifications must be acquired on or before the last date of submission — 8 May 2026.

Age Limit

  • Tourist Officer: 21 to 32 years as on 1 January 2026.
  • Draftsman Grade-I: 18 to 32 years as on 1 January 2026.
  • SC / ST relaxation: Upper age limit relaxable by 5 years.
  • Government employees: No age bar for regular Government employees who entered service within the prescribed age limit.
  • PWD relaxation: As per Government notification (Group C & D — 10 years; Group A & B competitive — 10 years; Group A & B non-competitive — 5 years; add 5 more years for SC/ST PWDs).

Salary

  • Pay Scale: Level 11 of the Revised Pay Structure (Meghalaya Pay Matrix).
  • Approximate gross salary: Rs. 62,000 to Rs. 65,000 per month inclusive of DA, HRA, and other allowances.
  • Plus admissible allowances as per Meghalaya Government rules.

Selection Process

  1. Screening Test (MCQ pattern, 300 marks total):
  2. For Tourist Officer: General English (60), General Studies & Current Affairs (80), Aptitude & Reasoning (60), Tourism Management & Hospitality (60), Basic Computer Knowledge (40).
  3. For Draftsman Grade-I: General English (50), General Knowledge & Current Affairs (50), Aptitude & Reasoning (50), Technical Subject — Civil & Architectural at Diploma Level (150 marks).
  4. Personal Interview: Only candidates who pass the Screening Test are called.
  5. Final selection: Based on combined performance. Original certificates must be produced before the interview.

Responsibilities

  • Promote tourism and hospitality activities in the State and at Tourist Information Centres in Kolkata, Delhi, and Guwahati (Tourist Officer).
  • Coordinate with the Tourism Department on schemes, events, and visitor services (Tourist Officer).
  • Prepare architectural and civil drawings for Government housing projects (Draftsman Grade-I).
  • Read structural designs and convert them into accurate working drawings (Draftsman Grade-I).
  • Maintain technical drawing records and revisions for the Directorate of Housing (Draftsman Grade-I).
  • Assist senior officers in site inspections and design reviews.
  • Follow Meghalaya Government service rules and Public Service Commission directions.
  • Support departmental teams in fieldwork, documentation, and reporting.

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Graduate in any discipline (Tourist Officer); Diploma in Architectural/Civil Draftsmanship OR ITI Certificate in Civil Draftsman with 3 years experience (Draftsman Grade-I)

Preferred Qualification

Diploma in Tourism or 2 years experience in the field for Tourist Officer

Required Skills

Tourism management, hospitality, basic computer skills (Tourist Officer); Architectural/civil drafting at Diploma level (Draftsman Grade-I)

Exam Pattern

The Screening Test is held in MCQ pattern for a total of 300 marks. The breakdown depends on the post:
