MHU Young Professional-II Recruitment 2026: Overview

Maharana Pratap Horticultural University (MHU), Karnal is hiring a Young Professional-II for its Department of Fruit Science. The post sits under a state scheme on climate-resilient underutilised fruit-based systems for nutrition security and better livelihoods in Haryana, run through field demonstrations, capacity building and knowledge support. You will work under the Principal Investigator, Dr. Surender Singh, Professor & Head of Fruit Science. This is a contract post tied to the scheme, not a regular university job, so it suits fresh M.Sc. Horticulture graduates who want hands-on field and extension experience.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The job lasts as long as the scheme or its funds do, and a Young Professional can be engaged for at most three years (1+1+1) or the scheme period, whichever is shorter.
• Termination: The university can end the engagement with one month's notice (or one month's pay) if the funding agency stops the grant or for administrative reasons. You can also leave by giving one month's notice.
• No regular status: You will not be a regular employee and get no CPF/GPF or other regular-staff benefits. The university is not responsible for adjusting you anywhere once the project ends.
• Full-time only: You cannot take up any other job or paid work while engaged on the scheme.
• Place of work: MHU, Karnal and the university's Horticultural Research Centres (HRCs).
• Joining: Bring a medical fitness certificate from a CMO/SMO of a government hospital, sign an agreement on a Rs. 15 non-judicial stamp paper, and report within 15 days of the order, or the offer lapses.
• Ph.D. students: You must show an NOC from the Dean, Post Graduate Studies at the interview.
• Leave and control: Leave follows university norms, and you will work under the administrative control of the Principal Investigator.

Fill the prescribed form (Annexure-A) attached to the notification and make sure it reaches the office of the Professor & Head, Department of Fruit Science, MHU Karnal by 11:00 AM on the closing day. Late forms will not be accepted for any reason.

The interview is held the same day at 2:30 PM in the office of the Director of Research, MHU, EEI campus (Nilokheri). No separate call letter is sent and no TA/DA is paid, so carry your original certificates and a set of self-attested copies with you.

• Assist in field demonstrations of climate-resilient underutilised fruit systems
• Carry out baseline surveys and collect field data
• Mobilise farmers and help run training and capacity-building programmes
• Monitor scheme activities at MHU Karnal and the Horticultural Research Centres
• Keep documentation and prepare reports for the scheme
• Support other scheme work under the guidance of the Principal Investigator
