MANIT JRF Civil Engineering Recruitment 2026: Overview

Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) Bhopal is looking for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for a research project in its Department of Civil Engineering. The project, titled "A Synergistic Deep Learning Approach for Accurate Scour Prediction Around Bridge Piers", is funded by the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (MPCST), Bhopal under file number A/RD/RP-2/450.

The work sits where civil engineering meets artificial intelligence: scour is the washing away of riverbed soil around bridge foundations, and the project uses deep learning to predict it more accurately. That is why the post is open to computer science, IT, AI, electrical and electronics graduates and MCA holders. Candidates with hands-on experience in deep learning, machine learning, Python or data analytics get preference.

The project is led by Dr. Rutuja M. Chavan, Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering, with Dr. Vaibhav Soni of the Computer Science and Engineering department as Co-Principal Investigator. This is a project-based fellowship for the two-year life of the project, not a regular institute job.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The appointment is purely temporary and ends with the project. You cannot claim a regular post at MANIT afterwards.
• Not an employee: The post exists only to carry out the research project, so you will not be treated as an institute employee or get employee benefits.
• Performance clause: The fellowship can be ended with 30 days' notice before the tenure is over if your work is not found satisfactory.
• Joining: The selected candidate must join immediately after getting the offer. The application form also asks how many days you need to join.
• Age limit is a preference: The notice marks the upper age limit as preferable, not a strict cut-off.
• Fellowship norms: The fellowship amount follows MPCST norms.
• Document check: Originals are verified at the interview or at joining, and the selection committee's decision is final.

Start by registering online through the Google Form linked in the notice. Then fill in the application form attached to the advertisement, paste a passport-size photo, add your GATE score if you have one, and give at least two references.

Bring the filled form, all original certificates and a set of self-attested photocopies to the Seminar Room, Civil Engineering Department, MANIT Bhopal (M.P.) - 462003 on the interview day. The interview date is marked tentative, and MANIT says it will tell shortlisted candidates the interview mode after initial screening, while also stating that the walk-in is offline only — so keep an eye on your email and phone.
