Maharashtra MEDD Retired Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview
The Medical Education and Drugs Department (MEDD), Government of Maharashtra wants to bring retired government staff back on contract to work in its establishment at Mantralaya, Mumbai. The department is building a panel of retired officers for three desk roles — Higher Grade Stenographer, Section Officer and Assistant Section Officer — to finish specific, defined work over one year. This is not a regular government job: you are paid a monthly honorarium under the General Administration Department's rules for re-engaging retired officers. If you retired from one of these cadres and want to put your Mantralaya experience to use again, this drive is meant for you.
Posts and Disciplines
- Higher Grade Stenographer: a personal-staff role supporting senior officers, with dictation work in Marathi and English and management of the officers' diaries, meetings and tours.
- Section Officer: a desk-in-charge role covering the department's budget work, establishment (service) matters and court cases.
- Assistant Section Officer: the same three subject areas — budget, establishment and court cases — handled at the assistant level.
For all three posts, the department prefers retired staff who know computers and typing and have handled both administrative and technical work. Your experience must be in the same post you apply for.
Post-wise Duties
Higher Grade Stenographer
You will take dictation from officers, plan and keep their daily diary, meeting and tour schedules, and maintain a record of the files and mail moving through the office.
Section Officer
You will handle budget-related work, establishment cases about the department's staff, and files connected with court cases involving the department.
Assistant Section Officer
You will deal with the same budget, establishment and court-case subjects, working on the files at the assistant level.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Contract terms: Appointments follow the conditions of the General Administration Department's Government Resolution dated 10 June 2025, and the monthly honorarium and allowances are fixed under that resolution.
- No designation: People hired under this contract do not get any official designation.
- No leave: Earned, casual and medical leave are not admissible during the contract.
- Task responsibility: You are personally responsible for completing the assigned work within the contract period.
- No powers: You will hold no administrative or financial powers and cannot sign any government letter or order.
- Fitness: You must be physically and mentally fit for the work and prove it with a certificate.
Application Submission Notes
This is an offline application; there is no online form. Send your application with the fitness certificate and copies of your qualification and experience certificates to the Establishment Section, Medical Education Department, 9th Floor, Gokuldas Tejpal Hospital Complex Building, New Mantralaya, Lokmanya Tilak Marg, Mumbai 400001.
