Lokpal of India has released a vacancy circular for engagement of 1 Consultant (Court Master) through a fixed-term contract. The role is meant for a retired court-side professional who has handled judicial or quasi-judicial work and can support case processing inside Lokpal of India. Selection is through past record, experience, stenography skill test, and interview, so this is mainly for experienced retired officers rather than fresh applicants.

The initial contract period is 1 year. It can be extended one year at a time for up to 4 more years, but not beyond completion of 65 years of age. The notice also says the number of consultants may change based on Lokpal of India's requirement.

This is a consultancy contract, not a regular government appointment. The selected person must give 30 days notice if they want to leave the assignment early, and Lokpal of India can end the engagement as per the contract terms.

Who Can Apply?

Service Background

• Retired public servant: You should have retired from an analogous post in Pay Level 11 or a higher pay level.
• Eligible organisations: Your previous service should be from courts including the Supreme Court, statutory tribunals, or judicial/quasi-judicial bodies of the Central Government, State Government, or Union Territories.
• Qualification: You must have a degree in Law from a recognised university in India.

Other Conditions

• Delhi/NCR preference: Lokpal prefers consultants who are residents of Delhi/NCR or can make their own stay arrangement in Delhi during the contract.
• Shorthand and typing: The application form asks you to mention your shorthand and typing speed. No minimum speed is given in the notice.
• Confidentiality: Selected consultants must sign a non-disclosure undertaking and keep official records confidential.
• Full-time focus: During the contract, you should devote your time to Lokpal of India and should not take another professional assignment that conflicts with this role.
• Police verification: The selected person must submit a Police Verification Certificate before joining.

Age Limit

• You should not be more than 63 years old on the closing date of application.
• Age reference date: The closing date is 10 July 2026.
• The contract can continue only up to completion of 65 years, subject to extension and satisfactory performance.

Salary

• Pay level reference: The vacancy is linked to Pay Level 11 under the 7th CPC for the analogous post.
• Monthly consultancy fee: The actual monthly pay will be fixed as Last Basic Pay minus Basic Pension, excluding Dearness Allowance.
• Transport support: A fixed transport allowance may be allowed for travel between residence and office, subject to the applicable entitlement.
• Tour duty: TA/DA for official tours, if any, will be as per entitlement for the post applied for.
• Leave: You can get leave at the rate of 1.5 days for each completed month of service.
• No regular-service claim: The engagement does not give any right to regular appointment in Lokpal of India.
• No extra holiday pay: If duty is required on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday due to work needs, no additional separate pay is promised in the notification.

Selection Process

The selection will be done through assessment of your past record, experience, stenography skill, and interview performance.

1. Past Record and Experience Check: Lokpal will review your previous service, court-related experience, pay level, and records.
2. Skill Test of Stenography: You may be assessed for stenography-related skill because the Court Master role needs accurate support in proceedings and records.
3. Interview: Shortlisted applicants will be assessed for suitability for the Consultant (Court Master) assignment.
4. Document Verification: You must bring original documents at the time of interview for checking.
5. Final Joining Formalities: After selection, you may need to complete the agreement, confidentiality undertaking, and police verification before joining.
