Karnataka State Legal Services Authority (KSLSA), Bengaluru has released an official notification for 19 Section Officer posts — 17 posts under the Residual Parent Cadre (RPC) and 2 posts under the Kalyana Karnataka Region quota. This recruitment is conducted through Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) and is governed by the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 and KSLSA Rules, 1996. Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: You must have an LLB (Bachelor of Laws) degree from a recognised university.
- Nationality: You must be an Indian citizen.
- Kannada Language: You must have passed a Kannada language test conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), or have studied Kannada as a subject/medium in SSLC or higher level exams, or have passed a Kannada language paper in any higher exam (mandatory Kannada test).
- Physical Fitness: You must be physically and mentally fit to perform official duties. A medical board will assess fitness if needed.
- No criminal cases: You must not have any criminal case pending against you.
- Note: Persons permanently debarred or disqualified by any Public Service Commission or Examinations Authority are not eligible.

- Minimum age: 18 years
- Maximum age for General (UR): 40 years
- Maximum age for Category II(A)/II(B)/III(A)/III(B): 43 years
- Maximum age for SC/ST/Category I: 45 years
- Age is calculated as on 16 April 2026. The upper age limit can be relaxed further as per Karnataka Civil Services (General Recruitment) Rules, 1977.
Salary
- Pay Scale: Rs. 69,250 – 1,34,200 per month (Karnataka State Pay Matrix)
- Entry pay: Rs. 69,250 per month
- Maximum pay in scale: Rs. 1,34,200 per month
- Plus Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, and other allowances as per Karnataka State Government rules.

- SC / ST / Category I / PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disability): Rs. 500

Selection Process
Selection is done in 2 stages — Competitive Exam followed by Interview:
- Competitive Written Exam (Offline OMR-Based):
- Paper I — General Knowledge: 100 questions, 300 marks, 2 hours. Covers current affairs, general science, Karnataka history and geography, social studies, general mental ability, public administration and rural development, environmental science and logical reasoning.
- Paper II — Legal Knowledge: 100 questions, 300 marks, 2 hours. Covers Legal Services Authorities Act 1987, KSLSA Regulations 1996 and 1997, Karnataka Civil Services Rules, Karnataka Financial Code 1958, Constitution of India, CPC 1908, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023, and Kannada General Language.
- Minimum qualifying marks: 105 out of 300 for each paper.
- Negative Marking: 0.75 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
- The exam will be held at Bengaluru centre only.
- Admit cards can be downloaded from cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea/indexnew.
- Interview (Viva-Voce): 20 marks maximum, 10 marks minimum. Candidates shortlisted at 1:5 ratio per category from the written exam will be called for interview.
Mandatory Kannada Language Test: You must pass the Kannada language test conducted by KPSC unless you studied Kannada as first/second language or medium in SSLC or higher exams.

- Fill in the online application form with all required details.
- Upload your passport-size photograph (5 cm x 3.5 cm, JPG, 50–200 KB) and signature on white paper (2.5 cm x 7.5 cm, JPG, 25–50 KB).
- Pay the application fee online via UPI / Net Banking / Debit Card.
- Preview the filled application and submit it before 15 May 2026 by 11:59 PM.
- Take a printout of the submitted application for your records.

Responsibilities
- Handle legal services administration and manage section-level office work at KSLSA
- Process files, correspondence, and orders related to legal aid and services
- Maintain registers, records, and official documents as per KSLSA regulations
- Assist senior officers in implementing legal services schemes and programmes
- Coordinate with district and taluk legal services committees for smooth operation
- Prepare reports, proceedings, and minutes of committee meetings
- Monitor legal aid applications and ensure timely disposal of cases
- Work with Lok Adalat proceedings and support settlement of disputes through legal services

Exam Pattern
The written exam has 2 papers, each with 100 questions for 300 marks, and a duration of 2 hours. Both papers are Offline OMR-based (Objective type). You must score at least 105 marks out of 300 in each paper to qualify.
