Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) is hiring 1 Assistant Engineer (Electrical) for the Harbour Engineering Department. This is a First NCA (community-quota) notification, open only to candidates from the Latin Catholic/Anglo Indian (LC/AI) community. KPSC has released a First NCA (Notification for Community Adjustment) for the post of Assistant Engineer (Electrical) in the Harbour Engineering Department. This notification exists because the earlier rank list published on 29 July 2025 (Category No. 123/2023) could not find enough eligible candidates from the Latin Catholic/Anglo Indian community for the vacancy reserved for them. Only candidates belonging to the LC/AI community can apply — the Commission will reject applications from any other community without sending an individual rejection notice. As an Assistant Engineer in this department, you would work on electrical systems and infrastructure at Kerala's harbours and port facilities, a role with steady government-scale pay and long-term career growth.

Who Can Apply?

• Community: Only candidates belonging to the Latin Catholic/Anglo Indian (LC/AI) community in Kerala are eligible for this post. Applications from any other community will be rejected outright.
• Qualification: You need a B.Sc/B.Tech Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university in India, or its equivalent as per G.O(P) No.47/2010/F&PD dated 05.06.2010.
• Candidates claiming an equivalent or higher qualification must produce the relevant Government Order/Equivalency Certificate at the time of document verification.

Age Limit

• You should be between 19 and 48 years old. Only candidates born between 2 January 1978 and 1 January 2007 (both dates included) can apply for this post.
• Age Relaxation: This age band already includes the standard relaxation under Para 2(i) of the General Conditions. For any other relaxation you may be eligible for, check Para 2 of the General Conditions in Part II of the Gazette Notification.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 55,200 to Rs. 1,15,300 per month as per the applicable Kerala Government pay scale for this post.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Kerala Government rules.

Selection Process

Your selection will follow KPSC's standard rank-list process:

1. Ranking: KPSC prepares a rank list of eligible LC/AI candidates based on their qualifications.
2. Written/OMR/Online Test (if conducted): If KPSC decides a test is needed for this selection, you must confirm you will write the exam through your OTR profile. You can then download your admit card in the last 15 days before the test.
3. Document Verification: When called, you must produce original documents to prove your qualification, community, and age. Applications that don't match these documents will be rejected.

If selected, you will be on probation for 2 years within a continuous period of 3 years from the date you join duty. The rank list from this notification stays valid until the reserved community vacancy is filled, or until new vacancies come up during its currency.

3. Upload a recent photograph (taken within 6 months) if you are creating your profile for the first time.

5. Fill in your application and submit it — no application fee is required.
6. Take a printout or save a soft copy of your submitted application for future reference.
