Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) General Manager (O&M) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL), a 50:50 joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Kerala, has released notification number KMRL/HR/2026-27/01 for 1 General Manager (Operations & Maintenance) post. KMRL runs the Kochi Metro and has now been sanctioned Phase II (JLN to InfoPark) covering 11 km and 11 stations. This is a senior leadership role ideal for serving IRSSE/IRSEE/IRSME/IRTS/IRSE officers in the SAG pay scale, or for senior officers from Rail PSUs and Metro Rail corporations.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have a B.E./B.Tech in any branch of engineering from an AICTE or UGC recognised university or institute.
• Experience: You need a minimum of 20 years of post-qualification experience in Operations and/or Maintenance/Signalling/Rolling Stock in subsidiaries or sister companies of Indian Railways, Rail PSUs, or Metro Rail Corporations.
• Managerial experience: Out of the 20 years, at least 15 years must be in executive/managerial cadre.
• Domain exposure: You should have sufficient experience in planning, procurement, and contract management in Metro or Railway.

For Deputation Candidates

• You must be a serving IRSSE/IRSEE/IRSME/IRTS/IRSE officer of Indian Railways currently in the SAG pay scale Rs. 1,44,200 - Rs. 2,18,200 (Level-14, CDA Pattern).
• Or you must be in the pay scale of Rs. 1,20,000 - Rs. 2,80,000 (IDA Pattern) or its equivalent in Rail PSU/Metro Rail subsidiaries or sister companies.

For Regular Basis Candidates

• Candidates from Rail PSUs/CPSE/Metro Rail must be currently working in the equivalent scale, or have a minimum 2 years of experience in the immediate lower grade or its equivalent IDA/CDA scale.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 55 years as on 1 May 2026
• For deputationists from Railways, KMRL may grant relaxation of up to 2 years in total experience at the sole discretion of management

Salary

• For Regular Posts: Rs. 1,20,000 - Rs. 2,80,000 per month (IDA Pattern)
• For Deputation: As per central government deputation terms and conditions
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances applicable to the E8 grade in KMRL

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages:

1. Shortlisting: KMRL will shortlist candidates based on qualification, experience and notification criteria. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview through their registered email.
2. Interview: A personal interview will be conducted with the shortlisted candidates. There is no written exam for this post.

Note: Merely fulfilling the minimum qualifications does not give any right to be called for interview or selection. Candidates working in Govt./Quasi Govt./Rail PSUs/Metros must produce a No Objection Certificate at the time of interview.

• Lead the Operations and Maintenance functions of Kochi Metro across Phase I and the upcoming Phase II (JLN to InfoPark)
• Plan and manage day-to-day metro operations, signalling and rolling stock maintenance
• Handle planning, procurement and contract management for metro and railway operations
• Supervise executive and managerial teams across operations and maintenance verticals
• Coordinate with Indian Railways, Rail PSUs and Metro Rail Corporations for technical and operational matters
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality and regulatory standards in metro operations
• Drive performance, efficiency and cost optimisation across the O&M functions
