King George's Medical University (KGMU) Short Term Resident Recruitment 2026

King George's Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow has released a short-term recruitment notice (Ref. No. 13669/SR/JR/2026) for filling Senior Resident (Un-registered) and D/G Non PG Junior Resident posts in Anaesthesiology, General Surgery, Geriatric Mental Health, and Urology departments. Selection is through walk-in-interview only — no written exam. Doctors who have completed MBBS within the last 5 years (for Junior Resident) or hold a recognised MD/MS/DNB degree (for Senior Resident) can attend the interview directly.

The 18 seats are spread across 4 departments with category-wise reservation as below:

Note: The number of posts may increase or decrease at the time of interview. Seats may also vary as per DGME UP adjustment under compulsory Government Service Bond.

Who Can Apply?

For Senior Resident (Un-registered):

• Qualification: You must have passed MD / MS / DNB recognised by MCI / NMC in the relevant subject.
• Maximum 36 months of total Senior Resident service is allowed (maximum 18 months in one department).

For Non PG Junior Resident:

• Qualification: You must have passed MBBS (including completion of Internship) or equivalent degree recognised by MCI.
• You can apply only within 5 years from the date of internship completion.
• Reservation: Only candidates with Uttar Pradesh domicile get the benefit of reservation. Reserved category candidates from other states will be treated as unreserved.

Age Limit

• Senior Resident (Un-reg.): Maximum 45 years as per NMC rules.
• Junior Resident (Non Academic): Upper age limit is 40 years as reckoned on the date of interview.
• Age Relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC candidates with Uttar Pradesh domicile, widowed/divorced/legally separated women who have not re-married, and disabled/handicapped persons (as per Govt. rules for Senior Resident posts only).

Salary

• Pay and allowances will be paid as per University rules.
• No TA/DA will be given for attending the interview.

• SC / ST: Rs. 2,000

Selection Process (Walk-in Interview Only)

There is no written exam. Selection is based on direct walk-in-interview:

1. Walk-in Interview: Held on 19 May 2026 at the Committee Hall, Medical Superintendent Office, G.M. & A.H., King George's Medical University, Lucknow.
2. Document Verification: Bring all original certificates and one set of self-attested photocopies for on-the-spot verification.
3. Final Selection: Based on interview performance and document verification. The Vice Chancellor reserves the absolute discretion to cancel the advertisement in part or whole, without assigning any reason.

How to Apply

1. Download the application form from the KGMU website at kgmu.org.
2. Fill the form for Senior Resident or Junior Resident as applicable.
3. Attach self-certified copies of: matriculation certificate, MBBS/MD/MS/DNB mark sheet & degree, MCI/State Medical registration proof, MCI recognition certificate, and reserve category certificate (if applicable, issued within last 6 months).
4. Submit the duly filled application along with self-attested documents to the office of the Medical Superintendent latest by 18 May 2026.
5. Pay the walk-in interview fee through bank deposit to Indian Bank, KGMU Lucknow.
6. Report on 19 May 2026 at 01:30 PM for walk-in registration; the interview starts at 02:00 PM. Carry the deposited fee receipt, originals, and Xerox copies.

• Handle patient care duties in the assigned department (Anaesthesiology, General Surgery, Geriatric Mental Health, or Urology)
• Assist senior faculty during surgeries, procedures, ward rounds, and emergencies
• Manage admissions, in-patient records, and discharge summaries for assigned beds
• Work in shifts including night and weekend duty as part of the resident roster
• Maintain proper clinical records, case sheets, and treatment notes
• Wear the prescribed white apron with name badge issued by the University at all times in the hospital
• Follow hospital protocols and not engage in any private practice during the residency period
• Attend academic sessions, seminars, and journal club meetings of the department
