Kalakshetra Foundation, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, has released a notification for the appointment of contract faculty in the Rukmini Devi College of Fine Arts at Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai. The posts are for the academic year 2026-27 and are further extendable based on requirement. Bharatanatyam, Carnatic Music (Vocal, Veena, Violin, Mirudangam) and Tamil Language faculty are being recruited. Who Can Apply?

For Bharatanatyam (Rs. 20,000 - Rs. 36,000 per month):

• Qualification: Post Diploma in Bharatanatyam from Kalakshetra Foundation
• Experience: Minimum 5 years teaching experience with regular art practices
• Working Hours: Minimum 14 to 40 hours per week depending on class allocation

For Carnatic Music - Vocal / Veena / Violin / Mirudangam (Rs. 20,000 - Rs. 36,000 per month):

• Qualification: Post Diploma in Carnatic Music from Kalakshetra Foundation OR Master's Degree in Carnatic Music from a recognized University
• Experience: Minimum 5 years teaching experience with regular art practices
• Working Hours: Minimum 14 to 20 hours per week

For Language Teacher - Tamil (Rs. 15,000 - Rs. 20,000 per month):

• Qualification: Degree or Master's degree in the relevant language subject
• Experience: At least 5 years teaching experience in the relevant language
• Working Hours: 8 hours per week

Kalakshetra Foundation reserves the right to relax the eligibility criteria for deserving candidates.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 60 years on the closing date of application
• No minimum age specified

Salary

• Bharatanatyam: Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 36,000 per month (consolidated)
• Carnatic Music (Vocal/Veena/Violin/Mirudangam): Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 36,000 per month (consolidated)
• Tamil Language Teacher: Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 20,000 per month (consolidated). For Sanskrit, up to Rs. 30,000 per month.
• Salary depends on experience, subject and working hours allocated

Selection Process

Selection is merit-based and through interview. There is no written exam:

1. Application Screening: Kalakshetra will screen all applications received by post.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview at Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai.
3. Empanelment: Selected candidates will be empanelled and an offer of appointment will be issued based on actual requirements.
