Kalakshetra Foundation, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, is looking for 2 Assistant Professors in Bharatanatyam to join its prestigious Rukmini Devi College of Fine Arts (RDCFA) in Chennai. Responsibilities

  • Handle Diploma and Post-Diploma practical classes including theory sessions
  • Complete the entire curriculum within the specified time frame
  • Assess the learning quality of each student and provide additional instructions as needed
  • Hold regular meetings with parents and guardians to share updates on student progress and attendance
  • Participate in Kalakshetra productions and conduct rehearsals for all dance dramas
  • Assist in organizing art festivals and other functions throughout the year
  • Accompany artists in performances conducted at Kalakshetra and abroad
  • Choreograph dance dramas and provide guidance to the Costume Department for dance-drama costumes
  • Coordinate with the Dance section for organizing art festivals and celebrations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Foundation administration

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Class X passed; Diploma or Degree or Post Diploma in Bharatanatyam from a recognized institution

Preferred Qualification

Knowledge of South Indian languages and Hindi; Ability to write music and dance notations

Required Skills

Solo Bharatanatyam performance (2 hours), Nattuvangam, ability to teach junior and senior level classes and theory in English

18 - 40 years (as on 30 Mar 2026)

Minimum 8 years experience in the field of Bharatanatyam. For serving government employees: 8 years regular service in Pay Level 15 of TN Govt pay scale (Rs 36,200-1,14,800) or equivalent.
