JIPMER Project Staff Recruitment 2026 - 3 Posts
Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry has announced 3 project-based contract positions under the MPGx-INDALL project — a research study on molecular and pharmacogenetic markers in acute lymphoblastic leukemia treatment in Indian children. The project is funded by DBT and CANSEARCH and is led by Dr. Biswajit Dubashi, Professor in Medical Oncology. These are purely contract positions for the duration of the project, with no claim to any regular JIPMER post.

All positions are for 1 year, subject to extension for another year based on project requirements.
Who Can Apply?
For Senior Research Fellow (Bioinformatics):
- Option 1: M.Tech in Computational Biology with at least 1 year of research experience
- Option 2: M.Sc in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology (with life science background) and NET/GATE qualification
- Option 3: M.Sc in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology (with life science background) with at least 60% aggregate marks AND 2 years of research experience
- Option 4: Ph.D in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology
- Desirable: Experience in bioinformatics data analysis, sequencing techniques, and NGS (Next Generation Sequencing)
For Project Technical Support III:
- Option 1: B.Sc in Life Science / Biotechnology / Pharmacology / Biochemistry or equivalent with 3 years of research experience
- Option 2: M.Sc in Life Science / Biotechnology / Pharmacology / Biochemistry or equivalent degree
- Desirable: Experience in molecular biology techniques, real-time PCR, LC-MS/MS; knowledge of Microsoft Office and statistical software
For Project Nurse III:
- B.Sc Nursing from an MCI-recognized university with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks
- Experience in patient care OPD, data collection, and sampling is required
- Tamil language proficiency (speaking, reading, and writing) is mandatory — the project requires communication with patients and facilitating the consenting process
- Desirable: Experience in pediatric oncology and patient counseling; knowledge of computer applications and statistical software

Salary
- Senior Research Fellow (Bioinformatics): Rs. 47,000 + 20% HRA = Rs. 56,400 per month (HRA subject to change based on DBT approval)
- Project Technical Support III: Rs. 28,000 + 20% HRA = Rs. 33,600 per month
- Project Nurse III: Rs. 28,000 + 20% HRA = Rs. 33,600 per month
- No other allowances or facilities beyond the consolidated salary will be provided.

Selection Process
Selection is through a walk-in process on 12 May 2026 in 3 stages:
- Written Test: Tests bioinformatics / molecular biology / clinical research / pharmacogenetics / cancer knowledge (topics vary by post — see Exam Pattern section below)
- Skill Test (for SRF Bioinformatics only, if required)
- Interview: Panel of experts evaluates subject knowledge, communication skills, GCP/GLP understanding, and aptitude for the role
Only shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview. The decision of the Project Investigator is final. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

Responsibilities
- Perform whole exome sequencing analysis and genotyping of candidate genetic variants for the MPGx-INDALL project
- Assist in statistical association analyses and interpretation of project-generated sequencing and clinical data
- Handle sample processing tasks including DNA extraction, LC-MS/MS, and routine laboratory work
- Recruit patients, obtain informed consent, and conduct follow-up as per study protocols
- Collect and manage clinical data, perform toxicity and quality of life assessments
- Prepare scientific progress reports and assist in manuscript writing
- Ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards
- Perform tasks as assigned by the Project Investigator (PI)
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
B.Sc / M.Sc / M.Tech / Ph.D in Life Science, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, or B.Sc Nursing (varies by post)
Preferred Qualification
Experience in bioinformatics, NGS, molecular biology techniques, or pediatric oncology; NET/GATE qualification for SRF
