JIPMER Laboratory Technician Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, has invited applications for the post of Laboratory Technician / Project Technical Support-I under the ISCALL (Improving Survival in Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in India) project. This position is funded by ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) and is based in the Department of Medical Oncology, under Principal Investigator Dr. Smita Kayal. The project duration is 3 years, with an initial appointment of 6 months, extendable based on performance. Note: This is a purely contract-based position with no claim to any regular post at JIPMER.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification

• You need to have passed 12th (Higher Secondary) from a recognised board
• Plus a Diploma or Degree in Medical Lab Technology (MLT/DMLT) from a recognised institution
• Experience (approximately 2 years) in relevant areas like Pathology, Lab Oncology, or Flow Cytometry is preferred

Desirable Experience

• Hands-on experience with common pathology and biochemical lab techniques
• Experience in phlebotomy and blood collection from patients
• Knowledge of histopathology and immunohistopathology tools and techniques
• Experience with flow cytometry and cytogenetics techniques is a strong advantage

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 28 years (as on the last date of application)

Salary

• Basic salary: Rs. 18,000 per month
• HRA (20%): Rs. 3,600 per month
• Total consolidated pay: Rs. 21,600 per month
• Note: No other allowances or facilities beyond consolidated salary are provided. Salary may vary from time to time at project discretion.

Selection Process

Candidates will be shortlisted based on their CV and application. Shortlisted candidates will then go through:

1. CV Screening: Initial shortlisting based on application and documents submitted
2. Written Test: Questions related to MLT/DMLT subject areas, lab techniques, and the responsibilities listed in the notification
3. Skill Test (if applicable in the relevant discipline)
4. Interview: Conducted in person — date and time communicated via email one week in advance

Final selection is based on CV evaluation, written test performance, and interview outcome. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.

• Collect, process, and store patient biological samples as per study protocols
• Design and execute laboratory tests following ICiCLe standard operating procedures
• Analyze laboratory data and prepare detailed reports for study and protocol management
• Perform phlebotomy and blood collection from paediatric oncology patients
• Operate flow cytometry, cytogenetics, and immunohistopathology equipment
• Maintain accurate lab records and ensure proper documentation at all times
• Participate in all project-related activities and support the Principal Investigator as assigned
