Indian Space Research Organisation Research Associate-I Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, Sriharikota (SDSC SHAR) has issued Advertisement No. SDSC SHAR/RMT/02/2026 dated 23 June 2026. The post is for research support in weather forecasts, upper air observations, climate data and launch-related meteorology operations. Who Can Apply?

  • Ph.D. route: Ph.D. in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanography, Physics or Applied Physics with Meteorology or equivalent subjects as the main subject.

  • Pre-qualification marks: B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc or equivalent should also be first class with 65% average or 6.84 CGPA on a 10-point scale.
  • Passed candidates only: Candidates waiting for final results should not apply.

Desirable Skills

  • Computer programming and Linux knowledge.
  • Peer-reviewed publications in atmospheric, oceanic or climate sciences.
  • Skills in weather and climate modelling, observational techniques and data analysis.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 18 and 35 years as on 17 July 2026.
  • SC/ST: Upper age limit relaxable by 5 years.
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): Upper age limit relaxable by 3 years.
  • PwBD and Ex-Servicemen: Relaxation applies as per Government of India orders.

Salary

  • Consolidated monthly pay: Rs. 58,000 per month.
  • HRA: House Rent Allowance is paid as applicable if hostel accommodation is not provided.
  • Other benefits: Medical benefits for self and leave entitlement are available as per SDSC SHAR rules.
  • Selected candidates will not get benefits or concessions available to regular employees.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

SDSC SHAR will shortlist candidates through initial screening and then select based on interview performance.

Responsibilities

  • Support weather forecasts and observations for space launch operations
  • Analyse atmospheric, oceanic and climate science data for mission support
  • Work on upper air observations and launch wind-related meteorology studies
  • Prepare research outputs, technical notes and data interpretation reports
  • Use programming, Linux tools and modelling methods for scientific analysis
  • Coordinate with SDSC SHAR scientists and facility teams during assigned work
  • Follow ISRO documentation, safety and research reporting practices
