The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), through its ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) at Bengaluru, has released Advertisement No. ISTRAC:02:2026 for 26 regular posts under the Department of Space. These posts cover technical, scientific, library and catering roles at ISTRAC and the Master Control Facility (MCF), Hassan. Selection is through a Written Test/CBT followed by a Skill Test, and both fresher and experienced candidates can apply as per the post-wise rules below.

The number of vacancies is provisional and may change. Some posts are earmarked for PwBD (Hard of Hearing) candidates.

Who Can Apply?

Technician-B (Level 3 - Rs. 21,700/month)

• SSLC/SSC/Matriculation plus ITI/NTC/NAC from NCVT in the relevant trade — Electronics Mechanic (or Technician Power Electronic Systems / Mechanic Consumer Electronic Appliances / Mechanic Industrial Electronics) for post code 001, and Carpenter trade for post code 002.

Draughtsman-B (Level 3 - Rs. 21,700/month)

• SSLC/SSC/Matriculation plus ITI/NTC/NAC from NCVT in Draughtsman Civil (post 003) or Draughtsman Mechanical (post 004) trade.

Technical Assistant (Level 7 - Rs. 44,900/month)

• First Class Diploma in Electronics (post 005) or Mechanical Engineering (post 006) from a recognised State Board.
• Candidates who did the diploma through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) are not eligible for Technical Assistant.

Scientific Assistant (Level 7 - Rs. 44,900/month)

• First Class B.Sc with Computer Science (post 007) or Mathematics (post 008) as the main subject from a recognised University.

Library Assistant-A (Level 7 - Rs. 44,900/month)

• First Class Graduate plus a First Class Master's degree in Library Science / Library & Information Science or equivalent from a recognised University.

Cook-A (Level 2 - Rs. 19,900/month)

• SSLC/SSC pass or equivalent, plus 5 years of experience as a cook in a well-established hotel or canteen.
• Experience certificates issued by individuals will not be accepted.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 35 years old as on 20 July 2026.
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates (only where the post is reserved for that category). Extra relaxation applies for PwBD, Ex-servicemen, widows, divorced women, meritorious sportspersons and departmental candidates as per Government of India rules.
• EWS candidates do not get any age relaxation. No relaxation is available against Unreserved (UR) vacancies.

Salary

• Technician-B and Draughtsman-B: Rs. 21,700 per month (Pay Level 3) plus admissible allowances
• Technical Assistant, Scientific Assistant and Library Assistant-A: Rs. 44,900 per month (Pay Level 7) plus admissible allowances
• Cook-A: Rs. 19,900 per month (Pay Level 2) plus admissible allowances
• You will also get free transport, limited housing, LTC, group insurance, subsidised canteen and medical benefits. Appointees come under the National Pension System / Unified Pension Scheme.

Application Fee

• Technical Assistant / Scientific Assistant / Library Assistant-A: Rs. 250 application fee. All candidates first pay Rs. 750 (Rs. 250 fee + Rs. 500 processing fee).
• Technician-B / Draughtsman-B / Cook-A: Rs. 100 application fee. All candidates first pay Rs. 500 (Rs. 100 fee + Rs. 400 processing fee).
• Women, SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-servicemen candidates: No fee (full refund of processing fee).
• The Rs. 500 / Rs. 400 processing fee is refunded only to candidates who actually appear in the Written Test/CBT.
• Payment mode: Online only through Bharatkosh e-Payment (Internet Banking / UPI / Debit Card).

Selection Process

Selection is done in the following stages:

1. Initial Screening: Candidates are shortlisted based on academic marks and parameters set by ISTRAC. Only screened-in candidates are called for the Written Test/CBT.
2. Written Test / Computer Based Test (CBT): For Technician-B, Draughtsman-B, Technical Assistant, Scientific Assistant and Library Assistant-A — 80 MCQs in 1.5 hours (+1 for correct, -0.33 for wrong). For Cook-A — 60 MCQs in 1.5 hours with the same marking. Passing marks are 32/80 (UR) and 24/80 (reserved, if reserved). You can take the exam in Hindi or English.
3. Skill Test: Held for 100 marks on a go/no-go (qualifying) basis. You need 50/100 (UR) or 40/100 (reserved). Candidates are shortlisted at a 1:5 ratio with a minimum of 10 per post.

Final selection is based only on Written Test/CBT marks among candidates who qualify the Skill Test.

How to Apply

1. Go to the ISRO/ISTRAC website at isro.gov.in or istrac.gov.in and open the Careers page.
2. Register online — you will get a registration number, so save it.
3. Fill in the online application form carefully (it cannot be edited after submission).
4. Upload a recent passport-size photo and signature in .jpg/.jpeg (50-100 KB each) along with qualification and experience certificates.
5. Pay the fee online through Bharatkosh.
6. Submit the form and take a printout for future reference.

Applications are accepted online only, from 27 June 2026 (10:00 AM) to 20 July 2026 (11:55 PM). Only Indian nationals can apply.

• Operate and maintain ground station, satellite tracking and telemetry equipment as assigned
• Assist scientists and engineers in testing, calibration and technical support tasks
• Prepare engineering drawings and layouts (for Draughtsman posts) as per project needs
• Run and support computer systems, software and library services depending on the role
• Follow safety rules and standard operating procedures during round-the-clock shift duty
• Keep accurate records, logs and reports of daily technical activities
• Prepare meals and manage kitchen hygiene as per canteen standards (for Cook posts)
