Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) is hiring 750 Apprentices across its branches all over India under the Apprentices Act, 1961. If you have a graduation degree in any discipline, you can apply online. Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), a leading Public Sector Bank headquartered in Chennai with branches across the country, has released Advertisement No. HRDD/APPR/01/2026-27 for engaging 750 Apprentices for FY 2026-27 under the Apprentices Act, 1961. The vacancies are spread across every state and union territory with reservations for SC, ST, OBC, EWS and PwBD candidates, and the vacancies include backlog posts. This is a great opportunity for fresh graduates to get one year of hands-on banking experience with a government-owned bank.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You need a Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a university recognized by the Government of India, with your result declared on or before 31 July 2026.
  • NATS candidates: If you are registered under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme, your graduation result should have been declared between 01 March 2022 and 31 July 2026.
  • Citizenship: You must be a Citizen of India.
  • Prior apprenticeship: You should not have undergone apprenticeship earlier with IOB or any other organisation under the Apprentices Act.
  • Experience cap: If you have one year or more of work experience after completing your graduation, you are not eligible to apply as an Apprentice.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 20 and 28 years old as on 01 July 2026 (for General and EWS candidates).
  • Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get 5 years, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates get 3 years, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities get 10 years.
  • Candidates registered under NAPS must be below 34 years as on the cut-off date.

Salary

Selected apprentices will get a monthly stipend for the one-year contract period, based on branch location:

  • Metro branches: Rs. 15,500 per month
  • Urban branches: Rs. 14,500 per month
  • Semi-Urban / Rural branches: Rs. 14,000 per month

Note: For candidates selected under NATS, the same total stipend is split between the Bank and the Government — the Government's share of Rs. 6,150 is credited separately via DBT. Apprentices are not treated as Bank employees and are not eligible for any other allowances.

Application Fee

  • SC / ST / PwBD: Rs. 236 (Rs. 200 + 18% GST)
  • General / OBC / EWS (Female): Rs. 708 (Rs. 600 + 18% GST)
  • General / OBC / EWS (Male): Rs. 944 (Rs. 800 + 18% GST)

Payment mode: Online only, through the BFSI SSC portal from 7 July 2026 to 22 July 2026. The fee is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against any other engagement process.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in these stages:

  1. Online Written Test (Objective): 100 questions for 100 marks in 90 minutes, covering General/Financial Awareness (25), General English (25), Quantitative & Reasoning Aptitude (25), and Computer/Subject Knowledge (25).
  2. Test of Local Language: Required if you have not studied the local language of your chosen state at 10th or 12th standard.
  3. Personal Interaction: Conducted at centres decided by the Bank, if applicable.
  4. Document Verification
  5. Medical Examination

You need a minimum aggregate percentage decided by the Bank to qualify (SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates get a 5% relaxation). There is no minimum qualifying mark for individual subjects, and final merit is based on your written test score.

  1. Register on the NAPS portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in or the NATS portal at nats.education.gov.in.
  2. Search for "Indian Overseas Bank" on your portal and apply against the advertised vacancy.
  3. Go to bfsissc.com or beep.bfsissc.com and fill in the online application for "IOB Apprenticeship Program FY 2026-27".
  4. Enter your NATS/NAPS enrolment number in the application form.
  5. Pay the application fee online between 7 July 2026 and 22 July 2026.
  6. Watch your registered email for the exam intimation from BFSI SSC and appear for the online exam on the given date.

  • Assist branch staff with day-to-day banking operations and customer service
  • Learn cash handling, account opening, and passbook procedures under supervision
  • Support KYC document verification and data entry tasks
  • Help process cheques, deposits, and withdrawal forms accurately
  • Attend on-the-job training sessions and complete assigned learning modules
  • Follow bank policies, confidentiality rules, and workplace safety guidelines
  • Coordinate with senior staff to resolve routine customer queries
