• Essential: B.Sc in Mathematics / Physics / Computer Science / Electronics with first division (60%) from a recognised board/university, OR a 3-year Diploma in Computer Engineering / Electronics with first division

Post Code 02 — Scientific Assistant (UR, 1 post)

• Essential: B.Sc in Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Computer Science / Electronics with minimum 60% (first division), followed by a B.Lib & Information Science degree

Post Code 03 — Scientific Assistant (UR, 1 post)

• Essential: B.Sc with first class (minimum 60%) from a recognised university, followed by a graduate degree in Library & Information Science

Post Code 04 — Scientist 'C' on Deputation (1 post) — IT/ERP

• Essential Education: M.Sc / M.Tech / M.S / MCA in Computer Science / Computer Applications / IT / Data Science, or B.Tech / B.E in CS / IT / Data Science — with minimum first division (60%)
• Essential Experience: 3+ years experience in developing / maintaining ERP applications (SAP), plus sound knowledge of administration, accounts, and procurement in Central/State Government institutions
• Eligibility: Officers from Central / State Govt / Universities / Research Institutions / PSUs / Semi-Govt / Autonomous bodies holding analogous posts on regular basis

Post Code 05 — Scientist 'C' on Deputation (1 post) — Ocean Science

• Essential Education: M.Sc / M.Tech in Ocean Science / Marine Science / Climate Science with minimum first class (60%)
• Essential Experience: 3+ years in ocean observation / ocean data processing and analysis, plus at least 2 SCI research publications in peer-reviewed journals
• Eligibility: Officers from Central / State Govt / Universities / Research Institutions / PSUs holding analogous posts on regular basis

Age Limit

• Scientific Assistant (Post Codes 01–03): Maximum 28 years as on last date of application (11 May 2026)
• For Post Code 01 (ST reserved): ST candidates get additional age relaxation beyond the 28-year limit as per government rules
• Scientist 'C' on Deputation (Post Codes 04–05): Maximum 56 years as on last date of application
• INCOIS regular employees: Up to 5 years relaxation for Central Government regular service (minimum 3 years)
• Ex-servicemen: Age relaxation as per Government of India rules

Salary

• Scientific Assistant (Post Codes 01–03): Pay Matrix Level-6 — Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month + applicable allowances (DA, HRA, TA, LTC, CEA, NPS, medical, etc.)
• Scientist 'C' on Deputation (Post Codes 04–05): Pay Matrix Level-11 — Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 2,08,700 per month + applicable allowances

Selection Process

1. Written Examination — For Post Codes 01, 02, and 03 (Scientific Assistant) only
2. Interview — For Post Codes 04 and 05 (Scientist 'C' on deputation) — screening of online applications, then shortlisted candidates appear before a selection committee; last 5 years' APAR also evaluated

Only shortlisted candidates above INCOIS's cut-off marks in Part A will have Part B evaluated. Final shortlisting is based on cut-off scores set by INCOIS. The written exam and interviews are held at INCOIS, Hyderabad.

• Support tsunami advisory services, ocean monitoring, and 24x7 shift-based operational activities at INCOIS.
• Assist in research and software development for ocean data collection, ocean data processing, and oceanographic advisory services.
• Work on research cruises and aboard ships as required for ocean observation and field data collection.
• Manage the INCOIS Knowledge Resource Centre (library), coordinate with universities and colleges for researcher on-boarding, and handle scientific communication and outreach (Post Code 03).
• Implement and maintain IT products such as AEBAS, SAP, e-Office, and eHRMS for administration, accounts, and procurement (Post Code 04 — Scientist C).
• Contribute to ocean science data analysis, operational ocean services improvement, and participate in regional field campaigns and research cruises (Post Code 05 — Scientist C).
• Prepare scientific and technical write-ups, reports, and publications as assigned.
• Conduct ITCocean training activities, workshops, and webinars to popularise INCOIS services.
