Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) has released an SRIC project notice dated 15 June 2026 for the Computer Science and Engineering department. The project is titled A comprehensive security analysis of NIST Accordion mode proposals and their implications to hash functions over Galois fields, under Principal Investigator Dr. Raghvendra Singh Rohit. This is a project-based research role, not a permanent IIT staff post. The appointment is initially for 1 year and can continue up to the project end after performance review every 6 months. The selected JRF may also get an opportunity for PhD admission, as mentioned in the notice.

Who Can Apply?

Junior Research Fellow

• Qualification route 1: You need M.E./M.Tech in Information Technology, Computer Science and Engineering, or equivalent.
• Qualification route 2: You can apply with B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics and Computing, or equivalent.
• Qualification route 3: A five-year integrated BS-MS in Mathematics and Computing or equivalent is also accepted.
• Marks condition: You need CGPA above 8 or 80% marks.
• Exam condition: You should be GATE qualified in CS or UGC-NET qualified.
• Desirable fit: Experience in cryptography, cybersecurity and programming is preferred.

Research Associate-I

• Qualification: You need a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering, Mathematics and Computing, or a related discipline.
• Specialisation: Your research should be linked to cryptography or security.
• Desirable fit: Publications in top-tier cryptography and security venues and programming background are preferred.

Salary

• Junior Research Fellow: Rs. 37,000 per month plus HRA.
• Research Associate-I: Rs. 58,000 per month plus HRA.
• Tenure: Initially for 1 year, extendable up to the project end after review every 6 months.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The notice mentions interview-based selection. IIT Roorkee will check whether you match the post you are applying for before the interview.
