IIT Roorkee Postdoctoral Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) is offering a Postdoctoral Fellow engagement in its Computer Science and Engineering department. The position comes under Phase II of the Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and Information Technology, supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. Its focus is information and network security, cryptography and citizen-centric secure service delivery.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The fellowship lasts for one year or until the project grant ends, whichever comes first. The project funding therefore limits the appointment.
• Nature of engagement: This is a full-time, temporary and non-transferable fellowship that can be held only in India.
• Existing employment: Researchers in regular employment will not be considered. If you hold a temporary academic or research position, you may be considered but must leave that role if selected.
• Host institution restriction: You cannot hold this fellowship at the institution where you completed your PhD.
• Industry connection: The notice gives preference to applicants with active industry links and proposals focused on industry-specific problems.
• Equal qualifications: SC/ST applicants receive preference when qualifications and experience are equal.
• Travel support: No TA/DA is available for attending the interview.

The notice sets a 5 pm submission cut-off on the closing day. Interviews will be held online, and shortlisted applicants will receive the arrangements separately.

• Carry out research under the Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme project.
• Study information and network security problems within the project scope.
• Conduct cryptography research related to citizen-centric secure service delivery.
• Work with the faculty in the relevant domain and the Principal Investigator.
• Coordinate project work with the Visvesvaraya PhD Cell and Head, IDRC, as needed.
• Participate in scheme activities assigned by MeitY and the institute.
