About This Job

IIT Gandhinagar is hiring 1 Post-Doctoral Fellow for a Chemical Engineering research project. If you have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related degree, you can apply online. The last date to apply is 10 July 2026. The monthly pay is Rs. 72,000 to Rs. 84,000 for an initial appointment of 1 year.

IIT Gandhinagar Post-Doctoral Fellow Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) has released Advertisement No. IP/10363/Advt0237 dated 19 June 2026 for a temporary Post-Doctoral Fellow position under Prof. Sai Praneet Batchu in the Department of Chemical Engineering. The project is titled Unravelling kinetics of enzymatic and enzyme cascade reactions for the production of food products, fuels, and chemicals. This role is useful for researchers who want strong project experience in kinetic modelling, numerical methods, enzyme reaction systems, manuscript writing, and research mentoring.

The appointment is for 1 year and may be renewed if the project and extension criteria allow it. The notice is for a research role, so your academic record, research fit, modelling skills, publication record, and ability to work independently matter more than a routine exam score.

The selected researcher will work on the kinetics and related phenomena of enzyme cascade reactions and other enzymatic processes. The PDF specifically mentions building deterministic and stochastic kinetic models, so this is not a routine laboratory-only post. It is a good fit if you are comfortable moving between reaction engineering concepts, coding, mathematical modelling, and scientific communication.

The role also includes mentoring junior researchers in the research group. The notice says the selected person can gain mentorship and teaching experience, along with skills useful for starting a new research group. There is also scope to collaborate with experimentalists and other researchers, so the work needs both independent thinking and team communication.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification

  • Qualification: You need a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or any other related degree.
  • Thesis submitted candidates: You can also apply if you have submitted your thesis in the listed areas on or before 10 July 2026.
  • Academic marks: You need at least 60% or equivalent grade from Graduation onward, and at least 55% or equivalent grade in Class 10 and Class 12.

Required Research Skills

  • Coding and mathematics, especially solving differential equations and using numerical techniques.
  • Kinetic modelling of chemical and biochemical reactions.
  • Independent and collaborative research, including writing manuscripts, reports, and research presentations.
  • Good publication record, problem-solving ability, and interest in mentoring junior researchers.

Preferred Knowledge

  • Knowledge of core chemical, biochemical, or bioprocess engineering subjects can help.
  • Basics of organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, enzymology, and experience in quantum chemical simulations are useful but not mandatory.

You should treat the eligibility section carefully because the PDF gives both degree and marks conditions. Keep proof for your Ph.D. or thesis submission, all academic marks, and research work ready before starting the form. If your degree is in a related field, explain clearly how your work connects with chemical, biochemical, biotechnology, or biochemistry research.

Salary

  • The consolidated monthly pay is Rs. 72,000 to Rs. 84,000.
  • The notification mentions a consolidated amount, so separate allowances such as DA, HRA, or TA are not separately listed in the PDF.

This is a project-based research position, so the salary is stated as a fixed consolidated monthly amount. The exact amount within the listed range may depend on institute/project norms and the final decision of IIT Gandhinagar.

Selection Process

The PDF does not give a written test pattern or fixed interview date. Selection will be handled by IIT Gandhinagar based on the online application and the research requirements of the project.

  1. Application Review: IITGN will check your qualification, academic marks, research area, modelling skills, and publication record.
  2. Shortlisting / Interaction: Suitable applicants may be contacted by the institute or project team for the next step.
  3. Document Check: Keep your Ph.D. or thesis-submission proof, mark sheets, CV, publication details, and experience documents ready.

Since the notice does not publish a question paper pattern, do not prepare for this like a standard written exam. Focus on showing your research fit, modelling experience, coding comfort, publications, and ability to communicate science.

How to Apply

  1. Go to the IITGN project staff recruitment portal at recruitment.iitgn.ac.in/projectstaff.
  2. Register yourself or log in if you already have an account.
  3. Select the Post-Doctoral Fellow opening under Chemical Engineering.
  4. Fill in your education, research experience, publication, and contact details carefully.
  5. Upload the required documents and submit the form before 10 July 2026.
  6. For project-related queries, contact Prof. Sai Praneet Batchu at praneet@iitgn.ac.in.

Before submitting, check that your application clearly covers the required areas: coding, numerical techniques, kinetic modelling, manuscript/report writing, and publication record. The portal is the official application route mentioned in the PDF, so avoid sending a separate email application unless IITGN specifically asks for it.

Important Dates

  • Advertisement Date: 19 June 2026
  • Application Start: 19 June 2026
  • Last Date to Apply: 10 July 2026
  • Exam / Interview Date: To be announced by IITGN if required

Responsibilities

  • Handle kinetic modelling work for enzymatic and enzyme cascade reactions
  • Prepare deterministic and stochastic models for chemical and biochemical processes
  • Work with the principal investigator and collaborators on project milestones
  • Keep clear research records, simulation files, and analysis notes
  • Prepare manuscripts, technical reports, and research presentations
  • Assist junior researchers with modelling methods and project tasks
  • Follow good research practice, data discipline, and project timelines
