Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati (IIT Tirupati), an Institute of National Importance under the Institute of Technology Act 1961, has released Advertisement No. IITT/FACREC/01/2026 dated 10 April 2026 for faculty positions across engineering, science, humanities, and emerging technology departments. Who Can Apply?

Minimum Qualification (All Departments)

• A Ph.D. in the relevant discipline (or a closely related area matching the advertised research area)
• First class or equivalent in the preceding degree (Bachelor's or Master's)
• A consistently strong academic record throughout
• Note: Candidates with a Ph.D. in other areas may also apply if their recent research falls within the advertised research areas.

For Chemistry Department

• At least one preceding degree (B.Sc. or M.Sc.) must be in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Chemical Sciences

For Applied AI Department

• A relevant engineering background with demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality research at the intersection of AI/Data Science and physical systems

Age Limit

• Assistant Professor Grade II (Contractual): Preferably below 35 years
• Assistant Professor Grade I: Preferably below 38 years
• Associate Professor: Preferably below 45 years
• Professor: No upper age limit specified
• Age Reference Date: Closing date of online application (9 May 2026)
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST — 5 years; OBC-NCL — 3 years; PwD (UR) — 10 years, PwD+OBC-NCL — 13 years, PwD+SC/ST — 15 years. Women candidates get an additional 3 years relaxation.
• The Institute may relax the age limit for exceptional candidates at its discretion.

Salary

• Assistant Professor Grade II (Fresh PhD): Pay Level 10, Cell 8 — Rs. 70,900 per month (Rs. 57,700–98,200 scale)
• Assistant Professor Grade II (1 yr exp): Pay Level 11, Cell 3 — Rs. 73,100 per month (Rs. 68,900–1,17,200 scale)
• Assistant Professor Grade II (2 yrs exp): Pay Level 11, Cell 4 — Rs. 75,300 per month
• Assistant Professor Grade I: Pay Level 12 — Rs. 1,01,500 per month (Rs. 1,01,500–1,67,400 scale)
• Assistant Professor Grade I (Pay Level 13A1): Rs. 1,31,400 per month (Rs. 1,31,400–2,04,700 scale)
• Associate Professor: Level 13A2 — Rs. 1,39,600 per month (Rs. 1,39,600–2,11,300 scale)
• Professor: Level 14A — Rs. 1,59,100 per month (Rs. 1,59,100–2,20,200 scale)
• Plus NPS, HRA, TA, LTC, Medical reimbursement, Education allowance for children, and Reimbursement of telephone bills

Additional Benefits

• Relocation allowance: Up to Rs. 1,50,000 (from abroad) or Rs. 75,000 (from within India) + economy class airfare for new recruits and family
• Initiation Grant: Rs. 2.50 Lakhs for office hardware and software setup on joining

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on merit and expert evaluation:

1. Application Screening: Applications are shortlisted based on qualifications, experience, and academic achievements beyond the minimum criteria. Meeting minimum eligibility does not guarantee shortlisting.
2. Reference Letters: Shortlisted candidates must arrange at least 3 confidential reference letters sent directly to the Dean (Faculty Affairs) by email at office_dofa@iittp.ac.in.
3. Expert Selection Committee Interview: Shortlisted candidates appear before an Expert Selection Committee. Outstation candidates are reimbursed 2-tier AC railway fare or economy class airfare (up to Rs. 20,000) for travel within India.

The Institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates called for interview. Candidates from abroad may be interviewed via video conferencing.
