Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) has released an advertisement (Ref: SRIC/06, dated 03.04.2026) to fill 1 Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) position in the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering. This is a contractual position under an ICMR-funded research project titled "Development and evaluation of a Bioink containing human lipoaspirate-derived stem cells in silk fibroin gel for 3D bioprinting of skin-construct: an in-vivo study" under Prof. Saugata Hazra. The contract is for 1 year. If you hold a PhD in Microbiology with a strong publication record, this is an excellent opportunity to work in cutting-edge biomedical research at a premier IIT.

Who Can Apply?

• Essential Qualification: You must have both Master's and PhD degrees in Microbiology from a recognized institution.
• Publication Requirement: You need a minimum of 3 first-authored articles published in internationally recognized publications.
• Desirable Skills: Good hands-on experience in Microbiology and molecular biology, experience in Cloning and Expression, NGS (Next-Generation Sequencing). A good publication record is preferred.
• Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply.
• Reservation: Preference will be given to SC/ST candidates with equal qualifications and experience.

Salary

• You will get a salary of Rs. 56,000 per month as consolidated emolument.
• You will also receive HRA (House Rent Allowance) as per IIT Roorkee norms.
• Total monthly pay: approximately Rs. 61,600 (including HRA).

Selection is through a single stage:

1. Walk-in Interview: You need to appear in person at the Committee Room of the New Biotech Building, IIT Roorkee on 20 April 2026 at 11:00 AM. Carry all your original documents along with one set of self-attested photocopies.

• Perform Whole Genome Sequencing and data analysis for the research project
• Handle basic Microbiology routine laboratory work including sample preparation and culture maintenance
• Carry out cloning and expression experiments as per the project requirements
• Assist in developing and evaluating bioink formulations for 3D bioprinting of skin constructs
• Maintain accurate records of experiments and prepare research reports
• Assist the Principal Investigator with manuscript preparation and publication submissions
• Follow laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized workspace
