Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) is selecting a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Department of Chemical Engineering under the mentorship of Professor Prateek K. Jha. The fellowship centres on molecular simulations and experimental investigation of sustained-release, biodegradable drug-loaded microspheres for use in glaucoma implants.

The work connects chemical engineering, molecular modelling and biomedical drug delivery. On the computational side, the project uses molecular-dynamics ideas and open-source platforms such as GROMACS or LAMMPS. On the experimental side, it examines how drug-delivery systems are synthesised and characterised, with the aim of linking material behaviour to controlled release.

This combination makes the position especially useful for a researcher who wants to cross the usual boundary between simulation and laboratory work. IIT Roorkee prefers someone with experience in both areas, although the notice also allows a strong specialist from either route to be considered. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Fellowship status: The position is purely temporary and runs as a postdoctoral fellowship rather than a regular institute appointment.
• Tenure: The fellowship is planned for two years. Either the fellow or the institute may end it by giving one month's notice.
• Student registration: Postdoctoral fellows are registered as students of IIT Roorkee while holding the position.
• Institute facilities: The fellow may use available library, computer-centre and hospital facilities under institute rules.
• Leave: You earn two-and-a-half days of leave for each completed calendar month. Unused leave cannot be carried beyond the calendar year.
• Research record: Review articles do not count toward the publication requirement in this notice; the institute is looking for original, high-quality research work.
• Thesis status: Researchers who have not yet defended their doctoral thesis may apply, but they must complete the defence before the interview to remain under consideration.
