IIT Roorkee JRF Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) is hiring a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for the GF University Centre in its Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Sponsored by Global Foundries, the project sits at the meeting point of semiconductor-device research, emerging memory technologies and computing hardware. You would work with the research group led by Prof. Anand Bulusu and build practical experience with device fabrication, modelling and data-led experimentation. This is a focused one-year project appointment, and it may suit an engineering graduate who wants hands-on semiconductor research before moving towards higher studies or an industry R&D role.

The project calls for someone comfortable moving between device concepts and experimental work. Its technical scope includes semiconductor devices, RRAM and other emerging memories, VLSI device fabrication, neuromorphic computing, spiking neural networks, Python or MATLAB, and data analysis. You do not need to treat all these areas as separate jobs; they describe the research environment in which the selected fellow will contribute. A strong foundation in electronics, materials or applied-physics engineering will help you understand how devices are designed, fabricated and evaluated.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: The appointment runs for one year from the date of joining and is tied to the GF University Centre project.
• Research setting: You will work under the Principal Investigator in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at IIT Roorkee.
• Academic opportunity: The selected fellow may get an opportunity to pursue a PhD or MS by Research; the notice presents this as a possibility, not a guaranteed admission.
• Equal-merit preference: SC and ST candidates will receive preference when qualifications and experience are otherwise equal.
• Interview communication: Only shortlisted candidates will receive the interview schedule, and IIT Roorkee will send it by email.
