Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) Research Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Office of Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research (IC&SR) at IIT Madras has released notification Advt. No. ICSR/PR/Advt.93/2026 for 1 Research Assistant post. This is a contract role, initially for one year and extendable based on your performance. You will work on a research project that builds a 5-year roadmap for industrial decarbonisation, focusing on stakeholder engagement and policy research.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have a Master's degree in public policy, development studies, social sciences, management, economics, or a related field.
• Experience (preferred): Prior experience in qualitative research, stakeholder engagement, or policy research is an advantage.
• Skills: Strong writing, communication, and analytical skills, plus proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• You must be a citizen of India.

Salary

• You will get a salary of Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 70,000 per month, depending on your qualification and experience.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on the following steps:

1. Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted based on the details given in their online application.
2. Test / Skill Test / Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for a test or interview. The Institute decides the mode of screening.
3. Document Verification: You must bring a printout of your application and original documents when called.

• Draft policy notes, background papers, and project outputs with attention to clarity and evidence.
• Coordinate with internal team members and external stakeholders to complete research tasks on time.
