The pay ranges from Rs. 9,00,000 to Rs. 12,00,000 per annum (about Rs. 75,000 to Rs. 1,00,000 per month), negotiable based on your experience and qualifications.

Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) Project Consultant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Office of Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research (IC&SR) at IIT Madras has released Advertisement No. ICSR/PR/Advt. 138/2026 for 1 Project Consultant (Veterinary Consultant) post in the Department of Biotechnology, under the coordination of Prof. Nathiya Muthalagu. This is a temporary, contract-based position initially for 1 year, extendable based on your performance — completion of the contract does not entitle you to regularization or permanency at the Institute. The role is focused on overseeing animal health and CCSEA compliance in the Institute's approved animal house, making it ideal for veterinary graduates who already have hands-on regulatory experience.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You must hold a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) degree. A Master's degree (MVSc) in Veterinary Science is preferred.
  • Experience: You need at least 1 year of experience working in a CCSEA-approved animal house.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: You should have a comprehensive understanding of CCSEA guidelines, ethical standards, and compliance requirements for laboratory animal care.
  • Licensing: You must hold a valid veterinary license recognized in India.
  • Skills: Strong diagnostic and surgical skills in small animals, proficiency in regulatory documentation, and good communication and leadership abilities are expected.

The prescribed qualifications are minimum requirements — even if you hold a higher qualification, that alone does not entitle you to be called for the test/interview. Only relevant experience gained after your qualifying degree is counted, and the Institute may relax the experience requirement for SC/ST candidates at its discretion if enough qualified candidates from these communities are not available. IIT Madras encourages women candidates to apply as part of its effort to maintain a gender-balanced workforce.

Salary

  • Selected candidates will get Rs. 9,00,000 to Rs. 12,00,000 per annum (around Rs. 75,000 to Rs. 1,00,000 per month), negotiable based on your qualifications and experience.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in these stages:

  1. Shortlisting: Based on the information you provide in your online application. This information must be true — if any claim is later found false, your candidature will be rejected even after selection.
  2. Skill Test / Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a skill test and/or interview. Being called for the test/interview only means you may be suitable for the post — it is not a guarantee of selection.
  3. Document Verification: You must carry your original certificates and testimonials for verification. The Institute will verify your antecedents and submitted documents at any stage.

If you are currently working on any project at IIT Madras, you must apply through the proper channel or produce a No-Objection Certificate at the time of the test/interview — candidates without an NOC will not be permitted to appear. The Institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates called for the test/interview based on qualifications and relevant experience, and to decide the mode of screening and testing. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted; no correspondence regarding the conduct or result of the test/interview will be entertained, and canvassing in any form will disqualify your candidature.
