Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture & Technology (SVPUAT) Subject Matter Specialist Recruitment 2026 - 31 Posts

SVPUAT, Meerut is a state agricultural university in Uttar Pradesh that runs several Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) — district-level centres that connect agricultural research with farmers on the ground. These KVKs are 100% funded by ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) and focus on demonstrating new farming techniques, testing crop varieties, and training farmers directly in the field. SVPUAT has opened 31 Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) posts at these KVKs, under Advertisement No. VIII/2026. The vacancies span nine agricultural disciplines — from Horticulture and Agronomy to Fisheries Science and Plant Breeding. There is no written exam — selection is based on your academic record, publications, experience and a presentation-cum-interview. This is a good opportunity for postgraduates in agriculture and allied sciences who want to work directly with farmers through KVK extension activities rather than in a classroom or lab-only role.

SVPUAT has been running a large recruitment drive through 2026, with several separate advertisements covering teaching and non-teaching posts across the university and its KVKs. This listing covers only the Subject Matter Specialist posts released under Advertisement No. VIII/2026 — other posts like Account Officer, Farm Manager, Programme Assistant, Stenographer and Driver are being filled through separate advertisements on the same recruitment portal.

Vacancy Breakdown by Discipline

  • Horticulture: 5 posts
  • Livestock Production: 5 posts
  • Agriculture Extension: 4 posts
  • Agronomy: 4 posts
  • Plant Protection: 4 posts
  • Home Science: 3 posts
  • Soil Science: 3 posts
  • Fisheries Science: 2 posts
  • Plant Breeding: 1 post

You can apply for whichever discipline matches your postgraduate specialization — you do not need to qualify in more than one subject area.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You need a Master's Degree in the discipline you are applying for (Horticulture, Agronomy, Agriculture Extension, Plant Protection, Home Science, Soil Science, Fisheries Science, Livestock Production, or Plant Breeding) from a recognized university.
  • Desirable: Working knowledge of computers, word processing and data processing — useful since KVK Specialists maintain digital records and prepare reports regularly.
  • Make sure your postgraduate specialization exactly matches the discipline you are applying under, since selection committees check this closely during document verification.

Age Limit

  • You should not be older than 40 years as on the last date of application.
  • Age Relaxation: OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and SC/ST candidates get 5 years, and PwD candidates get 15 years relaxation as per government rules.

Salary

  • Selected candidates will get Rs. 15,600 to Rs. 39,100 per month in Pay Band-3, plus Grade Pay of Rs. 5,400.
  • You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Uttar Pradesh government rules.
  • Since KVKs are ICAR-funded, your pay and allowances are released as per the applicable ICAR/State norms for Subject Matter Specialists.

Application Fee

  • General / OBC / EWS: Rs. 1,500
  • SC / ST / PwD: Rs. 750
  • Payment mode: Online only, through the recruitment portal. The fee is non-refundable, so double-check your discipline choice before paying.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on merit, not a written test:

  1. Academic Score Card: Your academic record, publications, professional experience, awards and extra-curricular achievements are evaluated and scored.
  2. PowerPoint Presentation: Worth 10 marks — you will need to present on a subject related to your discipline.
  3. Interview: Worth 20 marks, conducted by the selection committee.

Your final merit is decided by combining your academic score with the presentation and interview marks, so a strong academic and publication record works in your favour even without a written exam.

How to Apply

  1. Go to the SVPUAT recruitment portal at recruitmentsvpuat.in.
  2. Register yourself under Non-Academic Recruitment and select the Subject Matter Specialist post.
  3. Fill in the online application form with your academic and personal details, choosing your preferred discipline.
  4. Upload your photograph, signature and certificates.
  5. Pay the application fee online.
  6. Submit the form and take a printout.
  7. Send the signed hard copy with self-attested documents by post so it reaches the University by 17 August 2026.

Before you start, read the full advertisement and information brochure carefully, and keep your photograph, signature and certificates ready in the prescribed format. Use a valid mobile number and email ID, since the University will send all updates on your application through these. Complete your fee payment before final submission — you cannot edit the form after that.
