IIT Indore Project Research Scientist-I Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore) is hiring a Project Research Scientist-I at its Mehta Family School of Biosciences and Biomedical Engineering. The post sits in an ICMR-funded research project that is building an ultrasound-based way to deliver drugs to a cirrhotic liver, tested on lab-grown micro-physiological liver units. This is a project-linked contract post, not a permanent faculty or staff job.

The project is led by Dr. Hitendra Kumar (Principal Investigator) with Dr. Lokesh Basavarajappa as Co-PI, both Assistant Professors in the school. The role suits an engineer who enjoys hands-on lab work across ultrasound hardware, cell culture and 3D printing, rather than pure desk research.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The first appointment is for one year. It can be extended if your work is found satisfactory.
• Nature of post: Purely temporary and may end with the project.
• First class rule: For the M.Tech and Bachelor's routes, your first class is judged as per IIT Indore's own definition, published on the institute's academic PhD admissions page.
• Shortlisting: Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview call. The team shortlists on merit and project needs.
• Desirable skills: Knowledge of 3D printing, basic electronics, mechatronics and signal processing, plus earlier work with ultrasound or biomaterials, will help your profile stand out.

The interview is held online on Google Meet. Only shortlisted candidates get an email with the interview date and the meeting link, and the team plans to share the date by 10 November 2026.

• Build and improve the ultrasound setup used for drug delivery experiments
• Grow and maintain cell cultures for the liver models
• Use 3D printing to make micro-physiological units that copy a cirrhotic liver
• Run drug delivery tests on the liver models and record the results
• Work with the Principal Investigator and Co-PI on project planning and reports
