IIT Gandhinagar Postdoctoral Fellow Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar) has invited applications for the post of Postdoctoral Fellow under Dr. Pratyush Dayal in the Chemical Engineering department. The role is part of the project "Applications of Machine Learning in Engineering (AMLE) - Manpower support". Selection is by online application screening followed by a telephonic interview — there is no written exam. Fresh PhDs in Chemical Engineering with strong academic records are encouraged to apply.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have a PhD or equivalent degree with a background in Chemical Engineering.
• Academic Record: You should have a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grade from Graduation onwards and at least 55% in 10th and 12th.
• Recognised Institute: All qualifications must be from an Indian University or Institute recognised by AICTE or the appropriate statutory authority.

Salary

• Consolidated monthly pay: Rs. 72,000 per month

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The selection happens in two stages:

1. Application Shortlisting: Online applications will be screened based on academic qualifications and quality of relevant experience.
2. Telephonic Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a telephonic interview with the selection committee.

• Develop computational models to investigate phase behaviour and mechanical deformation in polymer blends under external stimuli

• Apply interdisciplinary expertise in polymer science, solid mechanics, and machine learning to design research strategies
• Model light-driven polymerisation kinetics and deformation in soft materials
• Contribute to code development, optimisation, and documentation for scalable computational workflows
• Guide research direction in collaboration with the Principal Investigator and project team
