Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar), one of India's premier research institutions, has released Advertisement No. SPON/10060/Advt0161 dated 02.04.2026 for the recruitment of a Postdoctoral Fellow on a temporary basis. This is a great opportunity for researchers with a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, or Materials Science to work on an exciting nanophotonics and plasmonic photocatalysis research project at a top IIT.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science or a related discipline
• Minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade from Graduation onward
• Minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade in Class 10th and 12th
• Candidates who have recently completed their Ph.D. or are waiting for Defence after thesis submission are also eligible

Desirable Qualification and Experience

• Experience in spectroscopy (either bulk or at single-particle concentrations)
• Experience in optical microscopy and nanophotonics
• Basic programming skills in Matlab or Python

Salary

• Consolidated Monthly Salary: Rs. 72,000 to Rs. 84,000 per month (including HRA)
• House Rent Allowance: Rs. 12,600 per month (if applicable, included in the above range)
• The exact amount within this range will be fixed based on your qualifications and experience
• Medical benefits for self, spouse, and children at par with IIT Gandhinagar faculty
• Leave: 2.5 days per month, can be accumulated up to 90 days

• Study charge and energy transfer processes at metal nanoparticle-molecule interfaces
• Conduct single-particle optical microscopy and spectroscopy experiments
• Prepare and characterize nanoparticle samples for plasmonic photocatalysis studies
• Analyze experimental data using Matlab or Python programming tools
• Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment and optical microscopy setups
• Prepare research manuscripts, reports, and presentations for project deliverables
• Work collaboratively with the research team under Dr. Saumyakanti Khatua
