IIT Gandhinagar Postdoctoral Fellow (HSS) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar) has released Advertisement No. IP/10062/Advt0157 dated 19 March 2026 for one Postdoctoral Fellow position in the HSS department. The post is under the supervision of Dr. Praharsh M. Patel for a project titled "Household water management through metering". This is a research-focused, project-based contract position for candidates with a strong background in quantitative economics and water or environmental policy. The project aims to evaluate the impact of household water metering and volumetric pricing on water conservation, service quality, and consumer welfare in Gujarat villages.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualifications

• Education: Ph.D. in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Environmental Economics, Water Policy, Planning, Public Policy, or a closely related discipline
• Academic Marks: Minimum 60% or equivalent grade from Graduation onward; minimum 55% or equivalent grade in Class 10th and 12th
• Technical Skills: Strong quantitative skills in micro-econometric analysis; proficiency in R software is essential
• Publications: Demonstrated publication record in water policy, environmental economics, agricultural economics, or applied economics journals
• Experience: Prior experience with choice experiments

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience and willingness to conduct fieldwork in Gujarat
• Knowledge of Gujarati language is an added advantage (not mandatory)
• Prior experience leading a field survey or field experiment

Salary

• Consolidated monthly salary (including HRA): Rs. 72,000 to Rs. 84,000 per month
• House Rent Allowance (HRA): Included in the consolidated amount (HRA not paid separately)
• Salary is as per institute norms for Postdoctoral Fellows

Selection Process

Selection is based on merit evaluation of applications followed by an interview:
