Post-wise Duties

Workshop and Utility Trades

You will inspect, repair and keep the assigned workshop, plumbing or electrical systems ready for daily institute work. Fitter staff may also guide students in basic bench tasks, while utility staff respond to maintenance needs across the campus.

Computer and Media Trades

You will maintain digital equipment and routine information services, from local-network support and data entry to photography, video and image editing. The exact work follows the post code selected in your application.

Laboratory and Health Trades

You will support research laboratories or the institute dispensary by keeping records, handling equipment and assisting technical or medical officers. Physiotherapy work may run in shifts, while chemical-lab work focuses on safe records and organised supplies.

Catering and Hospitality Trade

You will help run the canteen, guest house and meeting catering. Emergency calls, holidays or work at unusual hours may occasionally be part of this trade.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Service liability: Selection carries all-India service liability, and you may be transferred to another CSIR laboratory, institute or headquarters.
• Pension and benefits: New entrants come under the contribution-based pension system adopted by CSIR, with medical, travel and education benefits governed by applicable rules.
• Probation: Appointment begins with a probation period that the competent authority may extend or shorten before confirmation.
• Travel costs: The institute will not pay TA or DA for attending the trade test or competitive written examination.
