The Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad (IITDh) — an Institute of National Importance created by an Act of Parliament in 2016 — is looking for young, dynamic, tech-savvy and committed fresh postgraduates in Library & Information Science to work as Library Trainees at its Knowledge Resource Centre on the permanent campus at Chikkamalligawad, Dharwad, Karnataka. Both posts are unreserved (UR). This is a great launchpad for freshers who want hands-on experience with library integrated management software, institutional repository tools and modern IT-based library services in a top central technical institute.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Master's in Library & Information Science (MLISc) with a minimum of 65% or equivalent academic record from a recognised Indian university.
• Profile: Fresh postgraduates with a consistently good academic record. Strong communication, interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for learning new tools and technologies are preferred.
• Important note: If you have not yet received your MLISc certificate, you can upload your final consolidated mark list instead while applying.

Age Limit

• Not exceeding 26 years as on the date of notification (07 May 2026).

Salary

• Consolidated stipend of Rs. 25,000 per month.
• Selected candidates will not be entitled to housing, medical facilities or other benefits available to regular employees of the Institute.

Selection Process

Selection is in 2 stages — there is no preliminary screening exam, but a written test is mandatory:

1. Scrutiny of Online Application: Applications are scrutinised on the basis of consistently good academic record. Only shortlisted candidates are called for the next stage.
2. Written Test (in English): Shortlisted candidates appear for a written test at IIT Dharwad.
3. In-Person Interview: Candidates who clear the written test are called for an interview on the same day.

The date and venue for the written test and interview will be communicated only to shortlisted candidates by e-mail / on the Institute's website. No individual notifications will be sent.

2. Register and create a login.
3. Fill in all mandatory fields of the online application form, plus any optional fields relevant to your background.
4. Upload scanned copies of all required documents — MLISc certificate or final mark list, marksheets from matriculation onwards, updated CV, and other relevant documents.
5. Submit the form on or before 31 May 2026.
