Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing Kancheepuram (IIITDM Kancheepuram) is engaging a Technician through its Department of Mechanical Engineering. The position belongs to an NLC India Limited-sponsored project developing an AI-and-vision-integrated autonomous mobile system for collecting lignite dust from bunker floors. The project combines mechanical fabrication, electronics and intelligent automation, giving you a hands-on role around a working industrial prototype rather than a desk-only assignment. The project is led by Prof. Sreekumar M with co-investigators Dr. J Umarani and Dr. Gurunathan C.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract term: The initial engagement is for one year and may be extended for another six months. An extension is not guaranteed and remains tied to project needs, so you should treat the first term as the firm commitment.
• Sponsored-project status: This is a project appointment funded by NLC India Limited, not a regular Institute position. The work is connected specifically to the autonomous lignite-dust collection system named in the notice.
• Project supervision: Your work will be planned and reviewed by the Principal Investigator and co-investigators within the Mechanical Engineering team. The notice names all three faculty members, making the reporting structure clear from the start.
• Work setting: The role covers laboratory, prototype and field-facing activities, so you should be ready to move between fabrication, testing and equipment-support tasks. It is suited to someone comfortable handling both mechanical parts and electronic subsystems.
