IIITDM Project Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview
Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing Kancheepuram (IIITDM Kancheepuram), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, is engaging a Project Assistant in its Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The role belongs to an industry-sponsored project led by Dr. Srijith K and funded by XYMA Analytics Pvt. Ltd., giving you a short, hands-on assignment where academic electronics meets an applied sensing problem.
The project focuses on the design and development of a distributed temperature-sensing system built around Fiber Bragg Grating sensors. Instead of a desk-only support role, this assignment centres on experimental work, organised data collection and careful analysis. You should be comfortable working with a research team, following a test plan and turning laboratory readings into records that the investigators can use.
This opportunity can suit an electronics graduate or a current postgraduate student who wants focused exposure to photonics, optoelectronics or sensor-system development. The notice does not ask for an additional preferred credential, so the practical value lies in your readiness to work carefully with experiments and data from the start.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Initial tenure: the engagement begins as a short project contract and may be extended for a further term. An extension is not automatic and depends on the project's need.
- Work location: the project and the in-person assessment are at the IIITDM Kancheepuram campus in Melakottaiyur, Chennai.
- Attendance: you must be physically present at the institute when called; the notice does not offer a remote assessment option.
- Travel support: the institute will not pay TA or DA for attending the assessment.
- Project status: this is a sponsored-project position and does not create a claim to a regular institute appointment.
If shortlisted, you should be ready to explain how your electronics, photonics or optoelectronics background connects with experimental sensing work. The written-test topic and syllabus will be shared later, so keep checking the institute's communication rather than relying on an assumed general test pattern.
Application Submission Notes
The application is hosted through the Google Form linked in the official notice. Upload the requested information in the institute's annexure format. Keep a copy of what you submit, because the notice also asks you to bring a printed, completed and signed application when you attend the interview.
You will need to show the original educational and experience certificates for verification at the institute. If you currently work for a Central or State Government body, PSU, semi-government organisation or autonomous government body, carry the required No Objection Certificate from your present employer. Questions about the application process may be sent to srijith@iiitdm.ac.in.
Responsibilities
